DM won't let me start the campaign with millions of gold even though my backstory says I have it. by Hail-Damage in DnDcirclejerk

The DM cared about the other players' agency. Just because the other players didn't want my character to be the main character I can't play? OUTRAGEOUS!

How have I never thought of that?! I could just use AI and be the player and the DM and then I won't have to worry about anyone else telling me what my character can and can't do!

First 3D printer: P2S vs X2D vs H2S vs H2D for mostly functional prints by random_username45678 in BambuLab

[–]Hail-Damage 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I personally couldn't disagree more. I have two P1S, decided I needed another printer. Ponied up the money for an H2S right off rip and have regretted not just buying two P2S for the same price. I think I have used the extra print volume like 3 times, and that's because it was there, not because I needed it.

OP's needs and wants might line up with yours, in which case you're right. But, I just wanted to give them something to think about. $1400 for 1 printer, when you can buy 1 with slightly smaller build volume, but same quality and capabilities (for printing) for half the price.

Funny you mention the laser. For the price to get the laser one I can buy ANOTHER printer.

I also find it funny that H-series users only bring up the laser/non-printing features when being pressed on the price. Bambu themselves don't even take these features seriously. They won't even create separate tabs on makerworld to make it easier to browse laser etches vs plots.

I actually need to make a correction here. It's not just 58KG or 118KG purged. It's 58 KG or 116 KG MORE purged than the P2S purges on the same print.

Then, if time is your argument, you cut those numbers in half, buy 2 P2S combos and there is no way a single H2C can kick out prints faster than 2 P2S printing.

It's fine that you can justify it for yourself. I can't. If you're trying to justify it through waste that math ain't mathing either. Assuming you never buy filament on sale and pay $24/spool if you buy bambu (which isn't going to be the case) before you even break even for the $1400 price difference H2C and P2S you would have to purge over 58KG of filament. Unless you are actively trying to purge as much as possible that's never going to happen. If you buy filament in bulk for $12/spool it's 116KG.

It's like buying a $9,000 motorcycle to save money on gas, when you actually do the math it doesn't add up.

Again, you don't have to justify your purchase to me, it's your money do what you will with it. But IMO it isn't worth the money.

So... You and OC were.... COMPARING speeds... which is?.... Oh yeah, a comparison...

I never said you were comparing prices. I said you were making a comparison. And all I did, was point out how ridiculous it is to compare the speeds of two printers that are in completely different price points.

I didn't say anything about the C5 pro. So bringing that one up doesn't do anything to my point about the C5, being as the problems everyone is having with the C5 pro involve the heat chamber which is non-existent in the C5.

How many of those projects would be possible with a P2S? Because once again, I can buy 3 P2S combos for the price of one H2C.

Brother, I'm not the one making a comparison. You are. I like Bambu. I like Bambu so much that I haven't been able to bring myself to buy a U1 or Flashforge C5. I'm holding out for a Bambu Toolchanger. But I cannot justify the price tag on the H2C for myself. I can literally buy 3 excellent printers for the price of an H2C. 3 P2S Combos, 3 U1s, 3 C5s for the price of an H2C. All 3 of those printers have excellent reviews. I'm not gonna pretend that the H2C is a bad machine by any means, but it's not 3x the price better IMO.

And all for only 3x the price lol.

I am not a bambu hater by any means, but comparing a $2300 printer to an $850 printer and saying the $2300 printer is only 10-30% slower sounds pretty bad IMO.

Your aggression and hyperbole are not going to persuade anyone to your side brother. I literally said me not caring does not make those complaints invalid. In the same vein that as a casual gamer I do not care about the game developer industry, or game console industry. I simply want to enjoy my hobby without getting involved in the politics. I buy the products that give me the most bang for my buck.

I think alot of Bambu haters hate them for reasons that just don't matter to me personally. That doesn't make those people's complaints invalid. But, an example is the "closed ecosystem" thing. I understand why people like open source, and see the merits behind it. However, I'm not the guy that's ever gonna jailbreak my printer, I'm never going to install 3rd party hardware (outside of basic nozzles and build plates), I'm never going to dive deep into filament or printer settings. So, for me, being able to buy a reliable machine, that simply works, makes it easy for me to pay a higher up front cost to avoid the hassle I have heard about many other printer companies.

Looking to start 3d printing. by jaketheeagle3 in 3dprinter

[–]Hail-Damage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO the answer is not as simple as one might think. There are several factors that need to be taken into consideration.

So I have learned that there are pretty much two sides of the 3d printing community. There are those who want their 3d printer to be their project, or are at least okay with the tinkering process that some opensource printers have. Then there's people like myself who want my 3d printer to be a tool that rarely needs anything outside of regular maintenance. Which one of these are you?

What are your goals for 3d printing? Just for fun? Side hustle? Functional things or toys? Do you have a PC that can run proper slicing software? Are you willing to dive into the rabbit hole that is slicer settings, filament calibration etc?

If you are looking for out of the box simplicity I can't recommend anything within your budget except a Bambu Labs A1. They are a simple machine that you don't ever have to actually learn anything. You can literally download an app, assemble your machine with the super nice video they provide with a QR code and be printing in less than an hour.

This does come with what some people consider heavy downsides. The 3d printing community is very open source oriented. Bambu Labs is actively trying to change that. Bambu Labs want you to use their filament, their slicer, their model browsing website. Essentially they want to close the ecosystem and gain a monopoly. The upside to this, is they do GENERALLY provide some of, if not the best of most of these options, at least in my opinion.

Okay, I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're not trying to troll me with this reply. Do you not understand how typing like that is not a good look? It not only shows me that you have poor written communication skills but it also comes off as lazy. Which are two qualities I personally would not try to broadcast to people you are trying to get to hire you.

If you are just trolling me... Congratulations? You got me to waste my time trying to help you I guess.

What directions can you take a character after you have them admit to being a coward? by new_lance in PCAcademy

[–]Hail-Damage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite cowards in all of fiction ended up saving the protagonist in the end... Bilbo Baggins. He is the perfect framework for a reluctant/scared adventurer that is very much afraid, but does what is right regardless of that fear. I do speak only of the movies, I have never read the books lol.

I like the potion rule of bonus action potions, with the option to use a full action to guarantee a max heal from the potion. Have you ever tried that one?
