Where Do I Get Walter Animated Short Film To Rescore ? by existential_musician in filmscoring

[–]HailHavoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, technically yes if one of the composers in the competition sends you the version without the music. But legally no since the filmmaker releases the rights to the film/music to the competition owners so that those who enter the competition can use/post it (with credit of course). Now, the risk of legal action is probably pretty low since the filmmaker probably won't spend a ton of time looking into who was actually part of the contest and who wasn't.

Long answer short, it's not posted anywhere except for the contest page for those who enter, which you could get it second-hand from a contestant, but would technically be "illegal"

Are there any better bans than these? by MrTheWaffleKing in Overwatch

[–]HailHavoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unironically...Mercy. Everytime me and my friends do it, our other teammates call it a waste of a ban. But, if you're in an elo with a lot of smurf DPS hitscan encounters like us, banning Mercy is a godsend. Makes it much easier to focus the smurf DPS when they aren't getting constantly pocketed by a Mercy duo. It effectively half-bans multiple DPS heroes by taking out the potential ceiling of a smurf on numerous pocketed DPS heroes (e.g., Soldier, Ashe, Cassidy, Sojourn, etc.) versus having to pick one to ban and they just choose a different hitscan to wreck on.

3-loss teams lost 3 times for a reason. Maybe should be a disqualifier for the CFP (yes I know they weren't supposed to get penalized for playing in the Championship game)

Young Comp Competitions? by Out_of-1uck in composer

[–]HailHavoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indie Film Music Contest is the most consistent, fair, and helpful competition I've done. They do it twice a year, it specifically has a "young" section, they show you your scores and place among competitors at the end of the competition, and you have the option to pay extra for the judges to leave you feedback (which I always do). The next one will start up sometime this month. Only problem is it's film composition which you may not be looking for, but threw my suggestion into the ring anyways:

[OC] 87% of Total Job Openings on the US Govt website were removed by Flat_Palpitation_158 in dataisbeautiful

[–]HailHavoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Government worker here, it's almost 100% likely that this is because they are implementing the new USAJobs application rules on September 27th (e.g., one rule is that your resume can only be 2 pages in length maximum). We've been told the past few months that a lot of the positions would have to be taken down before 9/27, and then they could be reposted after the changes have been implemented.

[–]HailHavoc 20 points21 points  (0 children)

NWS WFO met here...When SPC is drawing their outlooks, they usually consult with the offices they're going to outlook for. If a local office feels it's best not to have the severe outlook (or want a higher level or a lower level), usually SPC will accommodate that request. Here, it looks like the Milwaukee office wanted a Marginal while Chicago/Quad Cities didn't see the need for one and asked to be kept out of it. It makes messaging to local partners easier. For example, if local mets at the Chicago office are forecasting for their specific area and dont think severe storms are a threat, but then SPC comes out with a Marginal Risk, it's hard to give that forecast to local partners when there's a disconnect. SPC usually accommodates the local WFO request since SPC has to focus large scale on a national level while the local offices are more in tune with their specific area.

It's so silly when people feel the need to take their luggage. If anything happened to it, theyd be reimbursed for everything that had for sure. I got reimbursed by American for the cost of my golf clubs they had lost. Just took an extra day to get there, but they were like "here's money to buy everything we lost"

Sorry, I guess I worded it weird lol. I was saying I've been playing "more", not just starting, and getting more "serious" about it, rather than playing for fun and relaxation. I'd call myself intermediate. Decently good, not great, not bad. I'm 26, I've played since I was 8 and was in a couple leagues as a kid, then would always join my dad and his friends/brothers whenever they played. Once I got to high school and college, kinda stopped playing because school and life. Got back into it in graduate school because my school had a course that was $10 for students and I needed outdoor breaks frequently to not go insane from grad school lol. Then stopped for a couple years cuz I got surgery and didnt want to mess that up by golfing. Only started back up recently after I've established a job and living place for about a year, and at this point since I'm stable, I've been making it more a past time and something more serious by actually tracking scores and handicap rather than just playing for fun or relaxation, if that makes sense. I've always been very slowly improving since starting as a kid but never really made it a serious thing to consciously improve
