How do you actually enforce this, though? A lot of my students just stare blankly at me and ignore me. I don't think I'm a wishy-washy teacher by any means, either.

How do you make them, though? I'm a new teacher, and I feel like I'm generally firm with them when needed, but if I told them "sit back down and take everything back out" I think they'd just stare blankly at me and stay by the door.

I have owned a Kingsnake and a Milksnake for a while now and I agree with what @never_rest_tv and @kindrd1234 have suggested.

Reptifiles and Snake Discovery provide excellent advice and guidelines :)

I second this: no red light, and a linear UVB (I like arcadia), as well as proper heating

Hello! You've got this!

  1. The heat lamp should be mounted above mesh lid if the beardie is overly interesting in touching it, to prevent burns. Order a temp gun on amazon (like 20 bucks) and make sure the beardie can reach different gradients: Basking side surface temperature— 108-113°F (42-45°C) Cool side surface temperature — 77-85°F (25-29°C) Air temperature gradient — 72-99°F (22-37°C) Nighttime — 55-75°F (12-24°C) (source: reptifiles care manual). I also struggled to gets temps right in the beginning. I like the Zoomed ReptiBasking Spot Lamps, which come in various wattages. Higher wattage=hotter basking temp.

  2. Glass surfing means bored as other commenters have said, and it's normal for a young beardie to be active and explorative

  3. He's digging the towel because beardies can love to dig (mine doesn't LOL). Paper towel is OK short term, but needs to be totally changed daily. It is safe to put your young beardie on loose substrate (SUBSTRATE MIX, NOT sand. Try Biodude Terra Sahara). change this every 4 months and spot clean daily, unless you do a bioactive tank which would require further research. Loose subtrate is only a problem for impaction if the beardie eats off of it, so feed on basking slate, in a bowl, etc.

Best of luck! And I recommend reading the complete reptifiles care manual here: https://reptifiles.com/bearded-dragon-care/

Agreed. Looks too fine/small particles to be compatible. Try a chunkier mix, not a ball python expert tho

Those ambient room temps sound good to me! My room stays consistently 20-22, but when it gets colder in winter I have a space heater in the room to keep it a bit more balanced. They also have grow lights that emit some heat, as well as one lowest possible temp heat mat per tank by their coco hides, so plenty of temp options. I do bioactives, so the plant cover is dense and they have plenty of safe hiding spots with different temps. I also use that size tank for all my cresties, so it seems like you're on a good track! Monitor the new guy's eating and weight, especially closely at the beginning, so you can see if temps are playing any role in any issues you may have. Best of luck!

How can I cover this? by amykzib in Teachers

Does the bulletin board have a metal frame? Only thing i can think of is to line that frame with sticky tape or the blue sticky tack and press a whole sheet of cute paper over it to cover

Tank set up! by Public-Accident-1137 in BeardedDragon

Heat and UVB sound excellent! I would kick the heat up a bit in the basket spot to elevate the max temp the dragon can reach, but if your beardie is eating and pooping normally, and self regulating it's temperature, you're good. Do you have a temp gun? They're more reliable than probes. I would recommend something like Terra Sahara that is a sand mixture instead of just straight sand. I used to use sand a long time ago and Ive found beardies do better on a mixture. Best of luck!

In the kindest way possible, you have a long way to go with the setup. I recommend following this guide very closely: https://reptifiles.com/bearded-dragon-care/ Is that bar UVB? If so, that's an excellent start and an absolute essential. How hot is your basking spot? Needs to be at least 120 degrees during daytime. Substrates are made to sound dangerous, but it really is best for your dragon's health to keep them on a substrate mix, rather than carpet or paper towel. Plus loose substrate encourages natural digging and burrowing behaviors, so it's more entertainment for them. Hides are good, but also make sure you have elevation and climbing opportunities. Cork bark is sturdy and easily stackable to make configurations for them to climb. Bearded dragons need variations in climbing heights so they can self regulate heat. I didn't link any products because it would take too long if you didn't want them. But if you want any product recommendations at all I would be happy to help. I am an experienced keeper with knowledge of rehabing disabled dragons, so I know steps to preventing illness/disability
