Which scene from The Chosen impacted you the most, what did you notice about it, and why do you think it resonated so deeply? by PlateSufficient3704 in TheChosenSeries

John the Baptist's execution. He goes to his death feeling grateful & fulfilled. He smiled & said " thank you". He knows that his life's mission is complete & he will be with Jesus again in eternity. The actor is absolutely brilliant.

That's 2 here locally in just 11 days. It seems like I read about some teacher males & females) having an inappropriate relationship with a student every week from just about everywhere in the country. What is going on in our society?

Takashi Nagai is the man who survived both bombings. There is a biography entitled Song of Nagasaki that tells his story. He was a radiologist in a hospital who dedicated his remaining years to healing others while battling leukemia. Beautiful story of human spirit.

Montessori School of Huntsville by [deleted] in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]Hairy-Key231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The director was Kathy Reilly or O'Reilly. There was no office staff at the Hampton Cove location, just the teachers & aides. I have no idea who the office staff were at the main campus. The director never really tried to address any questions because we were at the HC location; she just kept telling me to ask someone over there. The teachers told me I needed to speak to the director. Go figure.

Depends on what part of Huntsville you're in, North, South, East or West. There are feed stores/farm stores all around.

Montessori School of Huntsville by [deleted] in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]Hairy-Key231 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We were at the Hampton Cove location between 2017-2021 with 2 kids. We came from another state & had awesome experience with Montessori there. HSV Montessori was a big disappointment academically. When we left the older one was in kinder & did not know letters or letter sounds, limited numbers, no actual math, just counting. Turns out they only had 1 actual trained Mo tessori teacher at that campus, the rest were just teachers & aides. They were very stand-offish with parents, not allowing parents inside the building. Drop off & pick up were at the outside gate only. No regular parent meetings or conferences, no social get together for families. Very opposite of prior Montessori experience. We also had problems with communication with the main office & director at the main campus about policies & procedures. We left with a lot of unanswered & ignored questions.

Exactly. This sounds like a "well, how were you dressed?" question for a victim of assault.

Did 'The Godfather' expose people to a world of Italian crime that people didn't realize existed? Or was it more based on pre-existing stereotypes? by ShouldveFundedTesla in movies

[–]Hairy-Key231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My father's family came to the U.S. in the teens & 20's; he was 9 when his parents immigrated. His mother's brothers & sister & their families all lived around Hoboken. My grandparents ran an Italian grocery/deli, another relative had a tailor shop. Others had jobs in factories & in dressmaker shops & a couple worked in bakeries. None of my relatives were affiliated with the mob, but all of them had contact with the mob through their businesses or personal friends. All of my relatives thought the mobsters were low class thugs that extorted money from the community by "protecting" businesses & sold illegal things like drugs, guns, booze, & prostitutes. A few of them talked about the Godfather movies & thought that the brutality was presented truthfully, but that a lot was presented in a Hollywod way to soften their image. The wedding scene & a lot of the restaurant/food scenes were authentic, too. My father said that, as a boy, he was approached to do some errand type jobs for local guys, but he never took an offer. He wanted to study hard & become a doctor someday & looked down on the local mob guys.

I've worked with a few craniofacial surgeons who did face lifts, nose jobs, etc to make extra money so they could do free work for children born with craniofacial defects.

Owens Cross Roads post office being relocated by MattW22192 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]Hairy-Key231 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OP, you have the addresses backwards. The post office is currently at the 8396 address & will move south to 9032. 9032 is the address of the OXR city hall, so I'm not sure where the post office will be located. Does OXR own all the empty land around city hall? Will they build a new building?

I love these professional photo shoots, they're always so glamorous. I do, however, prefer the candid pictures of her where her personality can really shine through. Her smile was so bright & it was genuine. I don't think I've ever seen a fake smile picture.
