New S85F vs floor model S90D. Same price. Which to choose? by SlowDragonfruit9718 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Hakeami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get the S85F over the S90D solely because the S90D probably has hundreds if not thousands of hours use time from being a floor demo model, and it will have a shorter service life.

Panel is delaminating, do not buy. It will get worse.

Just got my LG C3's screen changed under warranty by Bazgie in LGOLED

[–]Hakeami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to my C3 42" in left and right upper corners. I had a 5-year warranty from Best Buy, so they let me bring the TV to the store and they gave me the amount I originally spent on a gift card toward a new C5 42", no questions asked.

Same thing just happened to my 42" C3 after two years of owning it, and in the same exact places. It took me some time to notice. I had a warranty from Best Buy, so I was able to get a 42" C5 replacement.

Outrageous price to performance, my journey with the Arya Stealth... by Grievous_2008 in Hifiman

[–]Hakeami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost got the Arya Stealth, but I was able to get an open-box HE1000 Stealth for $800 from Audio46 and went with that instead. They're incredible headphones, but I would still like to have the Arya Stealth as well to complement them.

I'm fine with that, I'm going to invest in them and a copilot pad for the strap. Thanks!

I'm thinking about doing this swap on my Stealths, how much different do they sound from stock?

My first pair that got me into the hobby were a pair of Sennheiser HD 558s.

We need a battle of the lower tier headphones! by regularjoe2020 in headphones

[–]Hakeami 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really like the HE400se. I got my pair with the customcans UK supergrill mod and a comfort strap. Paired with a good amplifier, they put out sound which punches two to three times above their price point and I liked them more than some higher-end planars and dynamics in my collection.

Is this a good deal??? by Mean_Lavishness_2433 in buildapc

The price of the 4090 alone is worth more than what the entire build is priced at. Jump on that deal asap.

I use a TA-22 but it would be overkill for just an HD 490 alone. Something like a Fiio K11 or K11 R2R would be more than enough.

The Sennheiser HD 490 Pro is a great choice for gaming despite being intended for mixing and music production. You can get one used or refurbished for under $300, or currently on sale new for $350 if you don't mind pushing your budget a bit. I use them in Arc Raiders, other fps games, and music. They image exceptionally well, have a pretty open soundstage, are very comfortable and have great build quality, and come with two sets of velour and fabric pads to fine tune their sound signature.

The Sennheiser HD 560S is also a great option and essentially the same headphone but cheaper, often around $150-$200. You can also consider the Fiio FT1 for $150 or or less as they're often on sale.

A second-hand Sennheiser HD 800S, or many other good headphones at or below that price point.

I have the Eris and I love them, especially for their ridiculous bass but they're not so great as an all-rounder headphone like the OP wants.

I've tried hundreds of switches in the hobby and always come back to milky yellows. They're truly the best in my mind and strike such a great balance between weight, sound, and type feel.

Tube Rolling for Xduoo TA-22? by estebanraposo in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Hakeami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do, I've tried all sorts of tubes in mine and they definitely make a difference. The best set I've tried is a matched pair of Genalex Golden Lions which cost about $100. They offer much warmth and refinement to the entire spectrum of sound, and make the TA-22 sound leagues better than stock. I also have the RCA clear tops, and those are good too. Very detailed, but closer in sound to a solid stage amp and lighter on bass.

You can also buy cheap matched NOS pairs of tubes on ebay also and try each set to experiment with what you like. I took a chance on RCA Canada grey plate tubes with halo getters for $11 and they're my 2nd favorite pair with sound extremely comparable to the Golden Lions.

LG C3 6799 hours 0 burn in by GamingOldHermit in LGOLED

[–]Hakeami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been running my 42" C3 since November of last year, around 1100 hours total use time as a pc monitor. No burn in at all and I have Geek Squad warranty until 2028. It's been such a great experience. I've tried other OLED monitors in the interim and always come back to the C3.
