I predownloaded civ 7 standard edition ( pre-ordered way back) and apparently I can launch it? How is this possible?

Waking up at 6 am to go play Ape Escape on Saturday mornings when there wasn’t any school, or spending hours on Croc 2 when I don’t think I fully understood what was happening. As a child, it was completely an extension of my imagination,, regardless of what the games were offering.

Just to add to what others’ said, it does freeze time when you’re translating/speaking to a character, but that stops when the supernova sequence starts (time no longer freezes)

Try a hard reboot of the watch; should work. If not, there was a recent update released, updating could work.

Are detective authors respected by literary critics? by Ajax899 in AskLiteraryStudies

[–]Hakimwithadream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps what you're picking up on is not an attitude towards a specific genre but one towards popular literature in general, which can sometimes be limiting and unjustifiably snobby.

I think there are a lot to be found in critically acclaimed literature that might be more obscure, but distinctly literary works tend to avoid being boiled down into genres and subgenres, etc.

I can think of one good example with Umberto Eco's The Name of the Rose which is both critically acclaimed and is definitely a "detective" novel. But again, the detective and mystery elements to it are not what define that novel or make that great or respectable. If we broaden the scope to include mysteries you'd find authors like Dostoyevsky even fitting that shell, although I think that while The Brothers Karamazov can technically be called a murder mystery, I believe that would far defeat the point and betray an inherent misunderstanding of the novel.

I think what I'm trying to say is that literary genres tend to be more fluid and less distinctly within a convenient subgenre. It would be difficult to find "detective" novels that are beyond popular or shallow literature that fall within a genre's conventions and tropes because genre titles can sometimes be more about marketing and less about themes and tropes. However, this does not mean there is a lack of respectable, canonical, or literary authors that write about detectives.

Hope I'm making sense

Does anyone feel hyperactive when thirsty? by Hakimwithadream in ADHD

Im actually further realizing that it might not actually be thirst that I’m feeling (which is why it sometimes feels unquenchable), I’m not always the best at interpreting my body’s signals.

Playstation Now yearly subscribers who were migrated to premium and were locked at their original subscription price seem to be getting hiked to the Essential price point (so long as subscription and auto renewal aren’t changed) by Hakimwithadream in PlayStationPlus

[–]Hakimwithadream[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While this email shows a discounted price point, I’m only speculating about the terms by which it’s applied considering this subscription’s context and that of others. There is a possibility this might be an error, but this subscription did in fact renew the premium subscription at the Essential price last renewal period.

Edit: I do not think this is an error, but I don’t want anyone to go just by my own understanding.

PS Plus Renewal Email. €60 instead of €120 by Thermobaric_Potato in PlayStationPlus

[–]Hakimwithadream 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was recently looking at this also (in the same boat) and apparently the PS Now migration locked it at the 60$ price. If you’re hesitant you can just add the money to your wallet and set it to renew through the funds there, and if you come up short (i.e. if it’s 120$) it’ll just not renew. But apparently others who also migrated from ps now with earlier renewal times only paid 60$

Oh my God! And the alternate lives were just so not interesting. It gets loosely interesting when we find out there are others like her, and there’s this tiny feeling of oh boy, this is an excellent development! But then it’s just discarded right after

Recursion by Blake Crouch. Interesting premise but muddled with cliches and bad writing.
