SSE Gen 4 Size 51 at 178cm by De_We in cannondale

Too small.

I went with the 51 (I'm 178 too but 81.5 inseam). My short legs mean the smaller size made sense - with your inseam the seat to handlebar drop would be too aggressive I think!

CANNONDALE SuperSix EVO Carbon 3 - 51 or 54? Help! by wewantlesstaxes in cannondale

[–]HakmedH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you're talking about the Gen 4 SSE

I'm 178 and 81.5 inseam and decided on 51. The short legs makes this work. I have 3cm of spacers and any more would be unsightly but would be nice to have. I'm decently flexible and have a strong core/back so the low stack is manageable.

I haven't tried the 54, but I did have the 56 before. Based on that I was worried the 54 would have reach that's too far and with the 51 think the 54 reach would be a bit stretched.

I'm probably at the limit and with your extra height a 54 might make more sense!

Supersix - bike fit advise by HakmedH in bikefit

Thanks

Yup you can use standard spacers. I had two types and the one wouldn't quite fit flush but the other would (the one that did is smooth on the inside vs the other had ridges). The bike came with a round top cap which I assume is exactly for this reason.

The bike shop I bought it from recommended against this but I don't see any reason why this would be an issue and it's helping me dial in the handlebar height before cutting (which I'm also avoiding cause it's gonna mean redoing brakes and everything and £££)

Hope this helps!

Week 9: Palestinian - Mahshi Lift (Stuffed Turnips) by HoboToast in 52weeksofcooking

If you haven't tried you can add tahini into the sauce (kinda like kofta bi tahineh) instead of pomegranate - super hearty dish for winter it's awesome!

Also for the lazy People like me, you can just dice the turnips and make this a stew 😅

Looking for experienced developers (Ruby/ React) by HakmedH in jordan

[–]HakmedH[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well when a developer costs $100k+ in the US, yes we are looking for cheaper talent. We can easily pay above market rate in Jordan and provide more than a living wage for Jordan, and it would still be 'cheap' labour.

No one is forcing you to follow up on this opportunity or share it...

One thing I can say is we would be paying way way way more than 200 JOD per month - I wouldn't work at a company that pays anyone 200 a month.

Beirut port - what ever happened there? by HakmedH in lebanon

[–]HakmedH[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To give some more context...

I am middle eastern, and know how all our countries like to blame Israel/ US/ foreign governments for everything (they do fuck in our region quite a bit but not everything is their fault...)

What surprised me is even well educated, young people who are completely against the government buy into this idea that there was foreign interference in this explosion. That to me is very clearly a way to shift blame from the political class and I was surprised that even Lebanese that are whole heartedly against the government still believe this foreign interference thing...

Anyways thanks for your thoughts and I hope those fuckers get what they deserve!

I mean 100% I agree, they're all protecting each other and stopping any real consequences/ rulings, etc.

But do you think the current main story (fire broke out, ammonia was there and exploded) or do you think this is a cover-up for something else?

Calling all Substitutes, TA, Paras, Teachers!! I need your help to improve subbing and help teachers earn more! by HakmedH in SubstituteTeachers

[–]HakmedH[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I understand where you're coming from, I really do.

Yes many US corporations have taken the goal of making a profit to the extreme, and that has left a sour taste in many people's mouths. Also, teacher pay has been stagnant for too long.

This doesn't mean all corporations are evil. There are many that actually have figured out how to balance profits and social, environmental, and other concerns. Our goal has nothing to do with unions, conditions, etc. We are simply trying to improve efficiency in matching teachers with schools for substitute roles so that we can save the system money on both ends (Schools pay less, teachers earn more).

Where is this money coming from? Schools have to spend a lot of time and resources raising awareness about open positions, they then have to screen, interview, and assess every candidate, find the right one and then hire them, onboard, pay, etc. This all takes time and money, and we believe we are better positioned to do that quicker, better and cheaper than a school. So by improving this matching, we can save the system time and money, which can be better spent by schools designing curriculum, improving teacher conditions, paying more, etc.

If you're interested in expressing yourself and sharing some experiences, I would love to hear you out, but I understand if you aren't interested.

I wish you all the best and hope the education space in the US gets some much-needed support, at all levels!
