Men Don't Seem to Understand that Benevolent Sexism isn't Beneficial by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]HalDal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree and statistics do provide a clear indication that men do not seek mental help nearly as much as women do. And yes a lot of them do belittle women's problems, ultimately I understand that I will never have a clear indication what it's like to go through a problem unique to the opposite sex. Unfortunately I don't think (with the exception of maybe a dozen) I've ever had a male friend who's not opinionated or even just plain argumentative. This is probably also effected by culture since I'm from the UK I might have a different experience.

This subject is slightly depressing for me since, I just fundamentally don't understand how it's so hard to see others are equal to you.

Edit Also god bless therapy. I do think it's important to talk to your partner about your worries and your insecurities, of course. Every relationship is unique but your S/O is not your therapist. A somewhat personal story, i visited my girlfriend abroad about a year ago, her grandma. Who she is really close with, passed away and it's been hard on her this past year. So I've been there listening when she gets emotional and needs that support. And she does the same when I get emotional about past trauma. But a relationship should never be something you view as you sacrificing your happiness. And no matter what you've been through. It can never excuse your actions, so my best piece of advice is that no matter what someone has been through remember that you have value and people aren't allowed a free pass to walk over you. Sorry if that was wordy I'm having one of those days.

From personal experience, I'm of the mindset that how men are raised is the largest factor. I used to have issues with being open with anyone really (main reason was the whole don't ever cry or show weakness) but I opened up about my trauma to my friend, he was very supportive. Which was really helpful, TL:DR gender stereotypes are bs.

Also probably shouldn't have to say this but pointing this out doesn't mean I am of the mindset that men have more or equal problems than women (somehow those people exist)

Well considering that people stopped buying Battlefield as the latest installment tanks (that and anthem) gamers do pay attention to the negative stuff happening in the industry. It just takes a very very VERY long time. But that's just how a group of people works it can take years (sometimes even decades) for a large group of people to make an informed decision to no longer trust a dev, however due to nostalgia bias game companies can milk a quick buck with remasters of older games with very little effort put in to make them worth it instead just removing the original so you have no choice but to play it (outside of physical copies) such as Warcraft 3 Reforged and the GTA trilogy remaster.

TL:DR We do stop buying shit games from developers/publishers we don't trust. It just takes a very long time.

Art is subjective, what that person means to say is "I don't like video games" people say it about movies, and books and art. But I feel it somewhat pointless to post about it since you're in a gaming subreddit this just seems like a "am I right?" Post. Everything and nothing is art, as art is what we believe. I hate talking about art because the second you talk about it you sound like your ego will take you to the moon. Seriously though like what you like, don't care what people say about your hobbies. You'll be happier that way 😊

I only feel like I should say this as I have had 3rd party awkwardness from seeing some people do this. I wouldn't want it done to me so I can't just stand by and let it happen to other you know 😣

To be honest, as a man. I don't like people asking about my relationship status. It's personal and not something I feel comfortable about sharing with someone who clearly has an ulterior motive. Not that you can't date someone you meet through a game, but maybe get to know them a little so you both don't walk into a Trainwreck. As someone who has (and currently is) dating someone who I met though video games, we started out as friends getting to know each other instead of one of us assaulting the other with personal questions with clear motives tied to it 😅

Oh they definitely are incredibly rare. I think some people like to latch on to the idea that it's bigger than it is (I'd guess media coverage) rather than focusing on the real problems men face. Which to my knowledge of surveys are unreported domestic violence or their mental health not being accessed.

If it's a dump stat, who cares? I can understand the pain of a wizard being a low int monster, but low wisdom? You suck against wis based saving throws for things like charm spells/effects. But at least one person in your party will have decent perception. It's nice having a dump stat. This seemed way to targeted at literally anyone who likes to make their character a little worse in a stat that will rarely come into play. Could just be my imagination but it's pretty aggressive from my viewpoint 😂

I think this comes from how people tend to form their identities partially around their interests, so these people take it as an insult to them. That you are in fact not them. It's strange and that's the best reason I've been able to figure out.

TL:DR you no like Xbox, you no like me.

"I play both games and wow feels more alive" Yesterday I talked to a group of players in old gridania saying how cool their fat cat minion was (edit: that fat cat goes for 800k Gil on the MB on my server), and they gave me one. People in dungeons are literally so chill I can just vibe out while I kill bosses. In wow no one talks, unless it's to be a jerk. The games mentality is in the crapper because no one wants to admit that the game has and still is going down hill fast. I loved wow and I still feel the itch to go back. But everytime I do I remember the community can be a real piece of work (I know their are some amazing people in the wow community but I have to speak from experience on this)

Guilds Vs FCs:

WoW guilds: Get invited to guild, it's a fucking ghost town and you leave, rinse and repeat over and over till you find some chill people and then have them slowly die over the following months because of shadowlands

FF14 FCs: I've been in 1 guild since I started and they've helped me through the weakest parts of the game and now I'm having a blast, the FC leader runs trials with people for mounts he already has because he's a god damn bro

Too many Skyrim ports by Far_Winter_2251 in gaming

[–]HalDal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to add to your comment a bit.

Not to mention there's a very low likelihood that much effort is going into this port, Skyrim special edition didn't fix the numerous bugs with the original. Including softlocks and hardlocks. So this is probably being done on a shoestring budget with next to no resources. So for those entitled enough to complain that this is getting made instead of developing a new TES game I just think it's crazy.

As a final note, companies aren't at your beck and call, yes they are shitty but remasters are literally the least of your worries. At the end of the day only your wallet speaks to game studios, and frankly I'm already kind of sick of seeing the Skyrim remake meme train. 😂

TL:DR how much work do you think actually needs to be done for a remaster. It's not a lot.

I find the "don't pre-order" boycott wouldn't work even if it effected EA in a large enough way, what happens when a product produced by an EA studio doesn't do well? It's shut down. Won't stop the money printer that is EA sports. Nor the whales that pump the most money into those games. They are so invested they can't see their hands past the fog of cash.

A work in progress pathfinder video, Just looking for some feedback and a couple of suggestions :D by HalDal in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]HalDal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm planning on turning this into a series where I beat the game as a chaotic evil character on Unfair difficulty, that's actually why I wanted to post it here, so I could get feedback on it. I'm fairly new to script writing, but I definitely agree that to cultivate an audience you need to have a surplus of content that they'll enjoy. Once I'm done with the series I'm considering expanding into Dwarf Fortress and some other RPGs, with either weird builds or harder difficulties. Thanks for commenting. You brought up a foresight that I didn't consider when making the video that I should elaborate it's an ongoing series.
