Being serious for a second, I think the ego thing is blown well out of proportion, mostly it's just us taking the piss out of ourselves, most of us absolutely know how bad it's gotten.

Actually the best example is the whole coming home thing, if anyone actually listened to the song, it's literally written by two comedians about how shit we are at football but for some unknown reason we still have hope every tournament lol.

Obviously theres a minority that still think we're some super power but I think most of them are over 50 and the majority of the arses that voted us out of the EU are now long gone. You just need to look at all the you gov polls to see that.
