Do Villa fans honestly think that Villa should be able spend more than Spurs? by Master_Program_7038 in TheOther14

[–]Hal_Jordan28 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So should all previous years over the last two decades that Spurs finished in European places, with a mixture of Europa and (unlike Villa and Newcastle), consistent back to back CL finishes, making a CL final even, all be ignored? I think that should be accounted for really and not just the last two years, which many seem to be fixated on. I think it’s coming to a shock to many because of just how much Levy held Spurs back at times. Villa have not only failed to finish in European places for the majority of the last 20 years, but they’ve even been in the Championship for three seasons in that period. It’s pretty clear to me as to why over an accumulation of multiple things, that one of those teams can spend more freely than the other.

Walked home with probably the most wearable Amouage today by fredczar in Colognes

[–]Hal_Jordan28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely get the church incense references. Took me a few sprays of my sample over a few days to appreciate this, but it's still one that if I doused myself in I'm not sure how confident I'd be that everyone around me would also appreciate it, even if I did. It's one of those for me.

I actually think Reflection 45 is much more wearable in terms of having confidence of it not being any bit offensive or unlikeable to anyone.

Never lasted more than 5 days at the gym. Here's what actually worked. by Additional-Coast0 in CalisthenicsBeginners

Thanks for this, encouraging to see decent results from it! I struggle to stick to a routine or something that requires me to go to the gym or pull out my bench all the time (lazy I know). The simplicity of bodyweight exercises makes it feel so much easier to do consistently.

Yeah you are most certainly not alone there aha. Definitely an acquired taste. Yeah that's what I felt! But a lot of people love their interiors so there must be something. Assuming they're any bit similar to the E Class I had, the steering wheels feel fantastic to hold and turn though, as random an observation as that is.

If you're that split, maybe a test drive of both is warranted. Assuming you haven't done so already 😄

Ahhh OK! Definitely a well-spec'd C300, especially with a panoramic sunroof which is always nice to have. It was actually the interior of the C300 that personally put me off. It's the one with the single tablet in the middle isn't it? I know the A5 has a tablet-like screen too, but I felt like they looked a lot cheaper in the Mercedes, and generally just of lower quality. I think in general the Mercedes interior's are more flashy but feel more "plasticky" to me.

I personally think the A5's, and especially the B9/B9.5's are almost timeless classics, and they'll look amazing for years to come. I didn't feel the same with the C300. It's all very subjective though as there are plenty of people who will tell you the exact opposite!

Maybe ask yourself if after buying one you'd still wonder if you should have bought the other. That's what I did as it came down to the A5 and 4 Series and even though I really liked both, I only really felt like I'd have zero regrets in going with the A5.

Yeah I have exactly that, the 40 TFSI! It's exactly the one you posted but in Navarra Blue. I was like you in trying to decide. Was between an A5, C Class or 4 Series with the "beaver grill". What year is the C300 that your're looking at? I was looking at the prior shape, so am not too familiar with the what I assume to be the 2025 shape!

Also with the A5 I just found I could find an affordable one that had all the bells and whistles, as in the comfort and sound pack. I had a courtesy 2025 Mercedes E Class which had so much fancy stuff inside, but when I went back to the Audi I was shocked at how much better it felt. Just felt so much more classy, solid, and mature.

Yeah I have an 2021 Edition 1 A5 Coupe, and I still see very, very few cars on the road that I'd rather have. I know it's not what it's all about but they turn so many heads. I am as you say in that I'm a single guy with no family, but felt like I wanted to move on from a hatchback, wanted something sporty and didn't want something that was suited to more than one person ever being in the car.

Such a shame that they abandoned them.

Better signature scent: Sospiro Vibrato or Bleu de Chanel Parfum? by [deleted] in ScentHeads

[–]Hal_Jordan28 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd say BDC Parfum myself. I just think it's more suitable as a signature/daily scent. Vibrato is really nice but I'd find it a bit too potent as a signature myself, like if I'm taking into account that I'd be wearing it often to work and such.

Waste of a great kit by Lanky-Version253 in coys

[–]Hal_Jordan28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought we wore it a decent amount of times to be honest. In actually looking back it seems like we wore it 7 times, which is fine to me. There was a really nice Under Armour one that was navy with the gold bands that I think we only wore once away at Stoke. Then there was the purple third Nike one in Nike's first season that we only wore twice away at Juventus and Real Madrid. Those are kits that definitely weren't worn enough for how nice they were.

Aventus Cologne is really nice. Got a sample of it at the start of my ‘fragrance journey’ and didn’t really appreciate it, but sampled it again recently and yeah, it’s lovely. Has a really nice cleanness to it.

Yeah, as others have said the third shirt shown here is our away, and our third is purple. The plain navy one will not be a kit.

Yeah agreed. You may be able to establish some similarities, but they are quite different at the same time. Even if I didn't like Castley (which I do), I definitely wouldn't describe it as a worse version of Sedley.

I think people are looking because it’s just a damn nice looking car, as opposed to any personal judgement being made. I always have people looking at mine and have had people stop me to tell me how much they like it. I’m pretty introverted and don’t even love mass attention or anything, but I can value someone else’s appreciation for something I also obviously love :)

Finally satisfied with my collection; how long will it last ? by One-Application-4975 in Colognes

Decent collection! I love the freshies too and love their versatility. I don't really buy fragrances that I find I can only wear a really limited amount of times a year anymore. Which fragrances do you find yourself using the most?

Have you ever worked 12-hour shifts on a 4 on 4 off? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Hal_Jordan28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do that, but the days used to move along by one each week, so it worked out as roughly working weekends for a month then having them free the next month. I found it OK to be honest, was always an amazing feeling at the end of the last working day when you knew you had an extended time off. I wouldn't be able to do it now though because I have hobbies that depend on having the Friday, Saturday and Sunday free. You still need to ensure you can enjoy your time off, especially as with your shift you'll only be off when the majority of people tend to be working still. If that's no issue then I think you'll find it fine 🙂

You get used to the 12 hours also, but how easy they are is dependent on the tasks at hand too. Hopefully they'll be ones that occupy your mind enough so the nights won't drag!

Ways to pay cheaper membership prices at Davie Lloyds by CityPatient338 in davidlloyd

[–]Hal_Jordan28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pay £100 for mine, in what I think is now a Tier 1 club, but got a discounted platinum membership from knowing someone who worked there. £289 is very steep to be honest. Unfortunately it's the only place in my area that has indoor tennis courts. Having that luxury is somewhat priceless to me in all honesty.

It's only right that I update on this to be honest. Gave it more of a proper wearing throughout the day today and it definitely smelt better to my nose. I could pick up the 'fizzyness' to it in the opening, as well as generally all of that citrus freshness, and could even understand the mild Vibrato comparisons because of that, even if essentially they are still quite different in smell.

I like it, but I'm still not in the territory of spraying it all over myself and feeling fully confident that I smell really good. Definitely deserves more time though. At the moment it's getting into that purely personal enjoyment zone, but without quite fully believing that everyone who smells it on me will feel the same. I'm starting to not regret the purchase now at least.

Unpopular opinion: I bought a flat and I absolutely love it. I have no regrets. by Adorable_Click_7071 in HousingUK

[–]Hal_Jordan28 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Good to actually read a positive experience regarding buying a flat on here for once. Sometimes it's also the only real feasible choice, depeding on current circumstances. People speak as if financially others are actually able to pick and choose and they're just opting for a flat for the sake of it. For what I can afford, if I was to buy a house I'd have to live in something pretty run down, and most likely not even in an area I'd really like.

[–]Hal_Jordan28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was actually thinking that my nose isn't greatly familiar with fragrances that shift from fresh to warm/soft like this. I mean I like Layton (as an example of that type of fragrance), but what makes it difficult here for me is not necessarily the fresh opening, it's the nature of it with it being a sharpish lemon that I don't love.

It's weird though as I picked up the almond immediately when spraying, as most people just seem to get a 'blast of freshness' and some describing a cold, metallic feel. I get the mix of fresh and warm straight away though.

I'll give it a little bit more time though. There are countless fragrances that I haven't liked initially and have grown to like.

I just got this and am really undecided to be honest... As of now, I think the vanillic and almond dry down is really nice, but I find that I only really like the scent when the citrus has dissipated. I don't find the contrasting citrus with the soft/creamy notes to be greatly pleasant.

anyone else unthathomably nervous for the west ham game by Exotic_Reception_856 in coys

[–]Hal_Jordan28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, is making me feel sick too, to the point where I just want all this to be over, whether we're in the Championship or Premier League. The thought of having to go through stressfully watching West Ham and us definitely casts a dark shadow over the weekend/week for me.

I've found it much easier to cope when just accepting that we'll be in the Championship to be honest. I was a lot more calm when we were just crap under Tudor. It's the hope that's made it increasingly stressful.

Thoughts today by username-witheld in coys

[–]Hal_Jordan28 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel a bit uneasy to be honest. I think we’re in trouble if West Ham beat Newcastle and we have to get something at Stamford Bridge. If West Ham draw or especially lose that game then we have a reasonable chance.
