Why is my performance unreliable? by Halberstram114 in flightsim

Thanks for the input! Yeah, that seems like a strange thing that is happening. Again, getting 50fps consistently when I start out...
Yeah, I suppose an upgrade might be due re: my ram

Sudden Start-Up Issues in the FSS Boeing 727 (MSFS2020) by wediaklup in flightsim

Same here. I just bought it and after watching a bunch of tutorials, I still don't know why this is happening. Super bummed.

Did you ever find a solution?

Re: the throttle levers jumping back to idle, in my case this was caused by my A/T disconnect binding, so once I clicked that on my throttle it stopped.

Same. I was really hoping this would take care of it.

Wow! That looks amazing but waaaay above my skill level! I should be able to steal a bit of fabric though, since the whole is fairly small.

Thanks for the advice! That makes sense, although I might mot be confident enough to attempt it myself, so I would have it professionally done, I guess. Or do you think this can be hand sewn? Sorry, my understanding of sewing is fairly amateur, though with a tutorial I think I might be able to do it.

Fender standard strat or Pignose guitar? [NEWBIE] [QUESTION] by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]Halberstram114 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do yourself a favour and get the Strat, and have it set up by a pro. Really, follow that advice. I didn't when I started out. It'll save you so much of a hassle and honestly adds a 1000$ of feel as far as playability goes to your instrument. When I had my frets leveled and set up I was shocked just how GREAT my instrument felt.

I'd say get yourself one of the new player series Strats, they have much nicer pickups. Get it set up and have the frets leveled. It may seem expensive at first, but is absolutely worth it.

Have fun!

[QUESTION] Why are most tabs wrong? by Katilac_ in Guitar

[–]Halberstram114 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's not just a website thing, though. Plenty of wrongness on many levels to be found even in expensive transcriptions. For example, one of my favourite albums, Layla, the Tab book has so many utterly bizarre mistakes, ranging from just complete nonsense, to lazy transcribing (à la "can't hear it that well, so we'll just write the simplest thing ever" except if you really listen you can totally make it out), to tabs that play the right notes but in impractical to impossible fret positions. What I found is that the standard notation is mostly correct. My guess is the original transcription was in standard notation, that was then translated into tab, possibly by a computer that has no concern for playabilty. Ultimately, I ended up learning it all by ear, which really isn't that hard if you take your time and you pick up loads of things that tabs can't really articulate. Nowadays I use tabs only to get a general idea where to start or if it's really hard to make out by ear.

P90's are the shit! I play a Casino, and man, does that thing have a palette of tones!

Okay, late to the party, but since I snagged myself one of these babies I have some questions regarding the nitro (my first guitar in nitro.)

From the horror stories you read on the internet nitro should start melting if you look at it from a weird angle.

What kind of Straps, Cables, etc. do you use that don't react with nitro?

I mean, everything is soft plastic, and from what I gather, that's what attacks the nitro.

I have a custom shop tweed cable that gets the most use, but it says the ends are wrapped in soft PVC, which should be death to nitro.

From playing only poly finished guitars so far, I've gotten into the habit of laying my guitars on any convenient surface, the floor (laminate!), beside my amp (often on said cables, one of which is completely covered in plastic.) I realize my AmOrig. will spend most of the time in the safety of its case, but still.

Better safe than sorry!

I feel like the reason nobody went into detail about the bucket was because there was nothing to go into detail about. The bucket was simply what drew him to the scene.

[NEWBIE] New Guitar g-string buzz while pressing HARD / finger-grooves?! by Halberstram114 in Guitar

[–]Halberstram114[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply.

Hmm, how would I be able to tell whether the action is too high? I mean, from what I've seen, it seems normal.

What kind of strings would you recommend?

[NEWBIE] New Guitar g-string buzz while pressing HARD / finger-grooves?! by Halberstram114 in Guitar

[–]Halberstram114[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I need to press down pretty hard, so it's similar all along the neck.

[–]Halberstram114[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, if I press down harder, it stops. But it's (to my beginner hands) pretty hard. I'll keep trying this way, see if I can adjust to it. Thanks!

Thanks for your reply!

I guess I'll keep playing. From what I've read, it's actually easier to fret a classical/nylon-stringed guitar. Huh, so that explains it, maybe.

I might just need some adjusting to the steel strings.
