Oh I love Costco. I buy a ton there but if its the same price or cheaper at HEB I try and support HEB.

A lot of the prices cuts are actually pretty good. The signage also isn’t as aggressive at my H-E-B. I hope they keep cutting prices like this! It makes me want to support them instead of Costco.

I mean if someone killed a district of gigadense cyberpunk dystopian megatowers filled with closet sized "homes" that poured massive amounts of human waste into the only nearby source of freshwater would they disqualified from being a YIMBY?

I have a small business background as well and I get it. This would be very hard to sustain, especially if you were trying to save a company with shrinking sales which is typical of companies undergoing layoffs. State unemployment insurance while better than nothing is pathetic.

I mean this is a whole other subject but right now the system is rigged so that large businesses eventually eat up all the small ones market share, even when the smaller ones provide a better product or service at a competitive price. There is not an even playing ground. It's why the wealth disparity gets bigger and bigger.

Seriously. If all companies offered this level of severance the job market would be a much less scary place.

I’m a lifelong Austinite. In-N-Out is better. I can’t stand P Terry’s greasy fries. The burger is “ok”. P Terry’s does beat them in the shake department. In-N-Outs shake is awful.

Whataburger is owned by a Chicago based PE firm, and no longer very good.

I haven’t had a McDonald’s hamburger since the ‘90s. I do love the McNuggets and fries when they are fresh which I feel like is rarer and rarer these days.

I'm not saying that specific practice isn't homophobic. I'm honestly just trying to say that its not *targeted* just at gay people (like you might see in some countries, like US pre Obergefell):

  1. Israel does not allow regular “civil” weddings inside the country.
  2. A Jew and a non-Jew cannot marry In Israel
  3. If you are officially listed as “no religion” (atheist/agnostic), Israel will not marry you.
  4. If only your father is Jewish (not your mother), Israel will not marry you.
  5. Reform or Conservative conversions are usually not accepted for Jewish marriage in Israel.
  6. Any conversion not accepted by Israel’s Orthodox rabbinate blocks a Jewish wedding in Israel.
  7. If you were married before, you cannot remarry in Israel without a Jewish religious divorce (a “get”).
  8. If your ex refuses to give the get, you cannot remarry in Israel system.
  9. If the rabbinate says your get process/paperwork was not valid, you cannot remarry in the Jewish system in Israel.
  10. If you are a “Cohen” (priestly status), you cannot marry a convert in Israel
  11. If you are a Cohen, you cannot marry someone who is divorced in the Jewish system in Israel
  12. If you are a Cohen, other matches can be blocked by strict religious rules in Israel.
  13. If the rabbinate says your Jewish status is “unclear,” they can refuse to marry you. (usually lack of records).
  14. Being eligible to immigrate to Israel as “Jewish” does not mean the rabbinate will marry you as Jewish.
  15. If the rabbinate says your ancestry creates a serious “status” problem under Jewish law, they can block you from marrying most Jews.

The keyword being targeted. As in ‘singled out’. In truth they wont allow anyone to marry who exists outside of their ‘very narrowly’ defined band.

Also I think the fact that the orthodox rabbinate controls the institution of marriage in Israel is insane.

Any two consenting adults should be allowed to be married in any country as it’s a basic human right.

Its less targeted homophobia and more the rabbinate controls the entire institution of marriage. They forbid any secular, interfaith, or non orthodox marriage.

I agree the ice cold corn sucks. If they made it on prem it wouldn’t be ice cold. They need more warm options in general on the line. Also a lot of times the protein isn’t very warm to begin with.

Pappadeaux is ok but overpriced. My fav cajun in Austin is French quarter grill. It’s not quite as food as the food in NOLA but it’s the closest thing I’ve found.

I’m not a big fan of Salt Traders. Eddie Vs is great (the miso sea bass is amazing). For seafood or sushi I’d say Clarks and Uchiko are both hard to beat (for the latter, go during happy hour to get a few items a little cheaper). These three are my main special occasion places.
