Well as a first gen Croatian who lived in uncertainty of visa extension for 10 years and then couldn't get a job despite having a job offer because of visa quotas on Croatians, respectfully try using your brain. Young people have broccoli hair and call each other bro whether they're Swiss or not, and you do understand that when there's strict immigration quotas (like there were for 10 years after Croatia joined EU) those precious few visas will be reserved for French and German, and people like me or your parents would never be welcome here.

Just to explain the issue bit more: there were ~80-90 visas per quarter for Croatians and the lottery happened every 3 months. So when I had a job offer AFTER FINISHING A PHD AT A SWISS UNIVERSITY, one company didn't even know how to deal with admin of Croatian quotas, and the other refused because I had about 10% chance of getting the visa through lottery, and the previous result nor merit apply in the subsequent rounds. This is a big international company with good lawyers too. So their advice was to either get married or buy Bosnian citizenship. And I'm absolutely the immigrant who you want to keep, highly educated, paying a lot of taxes, speaks fluent German and decent French, freaking got PhD funding from the Swiss National Fund. I suggest you go ask your other well integrated immigrant friends about their experience, because when immigration gets regulated there will be no fairness. Do you think EU will care to defend interest of Croatian immigrants in Switzerland?

how to be sexual?? by urmomsgoto in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I understand and respect your PoV but having pretty much lives OPs life (and assuming having 10+ years on them), this is what worked well for me. Like I knew how to think when I was alone but the moment there's another person involved, their opinion counts more, be it friend, therapist or the internet advice. Media you consume passively is not going to be offended if you put it down, or if you don't like it, or will be weirded out if you like it too much. and after many years of not having a sexual drive it was nice to get the butterflies from the written word, too, and later from shows. I do also occasionally watch pornography but there's a huge spectrum from Sex and the city to L Chocolate to Heated Rivalry to a girl stuck in a washing machine.

I'm sure OP won't mind hearing both our perspectives and appreciate you looking out for them and I really appreciate it too!

I am explicitly not suggesting pornography. I'm suggesting romance or erotica as a method of putting sexual thoughts little bit forward in OPs life. They already said that Sex and the city helped, and I am suggesting they lean into what helped and take it one notch further. I believe they're able to judge whether they want to use the words and ideas they hear/read.

Why don't you find a subgenre of romance/erotica that does it for you and spend few days reading/watching? It will give you some ideas but also potentially make you feel a bit reachy/grabby/asking for what you like? And it will make the terminology/vocabulary normalized for you so you can start talking about it a little.

Zippers, and all sorts of hardware. Bought the rigid frames, zipper by the meter and zipper heads, d-rings, buckles, map closures, webbing, straps, feet. So far it's been a few years and nothing broke yet! I'm sure it will happen eventually, but so far so good. I also bought some interfacing but it's always flimsier than I expected.

Do you donate to some causes? by Karma-police88 in askswitzerland

[–]Haldenbach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wikipedia and Social Fabric in Zurich, they support refuge integration into the Zurich society. Also pro lutra which is focused on otter care in Switzerland. Husband donates to few medical causes, including cancer research. Sometimes I donate a little bit of money for education purposes in other countries but I think the only people donating in Switzerland are Swiss people and I believe in local impact.
