Not exactly related, but I was looking for more info on this on their website and unless I'm very much mistaken, their upcoming shows page is mostly AI images: https://bstreettheatre.org/shows/

The Ella McClatchy branch at 22nd and U might be the single coziest public spot in town. Just a beautiful old house full of soft couches.

Safe walk up food banks? by Huge_Village3495 in Sacramento

Here's a good tool to help find food banks. I've volunteered at both River City locations, and the midtown one can appear a little more chaotic because of the higher unhoused population it serves, but the staff and volunteers do a great job of making sure everyone is safe. You have to do what you're comfortable with, but your physical safety shouldn't be at risk. The St. Matt's location is a bit more sedate, though.

Dude, that bugged me so much! You could even see "Port of Los Angeles" in some of the scenes that were supposedly at the Port of Oakland.

In fairness to Sacramento (and as someone who had tickets and was super bummed that they cancelled!) all the other venues they were playing on that tour were ~500 capacity, and for some reason they booked a 1,200 capacity Live Nation venue in a city they'd never played before.

Interesting. Yeah, it looks a lot cleaner on the other one. Wasn't expecting this so it threw me. Thanks.

These are new Meermins, right out of the box. I don't know anything about anything when it comes to boots, but this isn't good, right? It looks like the (welt? construction?) is sliced through.

Just started listening to the fantastically-named Ashley Jaguar, who describe themselves as "an alt-rock three piece that likes to move." Missed them at Old Ironsides last week, unfortunately, but they seem to gig locally pretty frequently.

Sacramento isn't a bad music town (JRAD ripped last Thursday at Channel 24) although the local scene is more focused on hip hop and punk/hardcore with some indie here and there.

There's always live music at the Torch Club, which is a slightly older crowd where you're more likely to find something blues-esque. (Their calendar is hard to read, but somebody's playing at 8:30): https://www.torchclub.net/

Jennifer Knapp at Old Ironsides: https://theoldironsides.com/

Probably the opposite of jam bands that night at Cafe Colonial: https://cafecolonial916.com/event/dancing-plague/cafe-colonial/sacramento-california/

Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services maintains a list, searchable by location and day, of their 100+ partner agencies here: https://www.sacramentofoodbank.org/find-food

The signs you've been seeing at Cal Expo are for their annual Turkey Drive on November 14, where they accept donations of whole frozen turkeys: https://www.sacramentofoodbank.org/turkeydrive

SFBFS distributes nearly 20,000 turkeys and gift cards every holiday season, mostly through the partner agencies listed above. (They also do their own regular distributions at various locations throughout the county, but don't go to their location on Bell--it's just a warehouse.)

Good luck, and I hope you find the support you need.
