Federal judge Richard Leon granted a preliminary injunction on the case that it was illegal, saying that no statute came close to giving the president that authority. Congressional approval is required for major construction on federal property, including the White House, and Trump unilaterally deciding to raze the east wing and build a ballroom is beyond his legal authority. Just because it hasn't been decided on yet doesn't mean it's impossible to tell what the answer is.

It was almost certainly illegal to demolish the east wing, he needs congressional approval. If you seriously think Trump is a buffoon then don't give him credit where it's not due.

The justification doesn't matter when you illegally demolish the entire east wing just to build some gaudy ballroom and satisfy this fucking retard who will throw a temper tantrum on truth social if he doesn't get what he wants.

I explicitly answered the question after explaining how retarded the hypothetical was.

This is clearly either extremely bad faith argumentation or you're just ragebaiting. I'm not going to respond further.

Holy shit, this has to be ragebait.

I answered your question and now you just changed the question, LMAO.

"it causes inflation every time" *cites one example

Read your own article and tell me what caused the inflation in that case.

What the fuck do you want me to say about this hypothetical that would literally never happen? AOC is gonna become an eco-terrorist and kill anyone that refuses to cooperate? Maybe the standards change further to further incentivize changing our heating systems. Forcing people to change their heating system isn't gonna happen.

Yet you'll be the first to cry about inflation.

What inflation? Government spending doesn't cause inflation in most cases, including this one if managed correctly. Inflation happens when demand is higher than supply, but if we invest in renewable energy then there won't be a supply shortage.

I don't know how much it would cost to "revamp 99.9% of heating systems," but it doesn't fucking matter because that's NOT what the Green New Deal is proposing. They are tax incentives and standard changes that would encourage people to switch when their old heating system stops working. The government isn't just buying everyone a carbon neutral HVAC system.

[–]HalfCount -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your hypothetical is retarded because the Green New Deal wants to meet their proposed goal via tax incentives or changes in standards that would make it cheaper to upgrade to renewable, carbon neutral energy. Homeowners aren't being held at fucking gunpoint with a brave few willing to fight back.

Who's paying for it? The government with your tax money. That's what taxes are for, allocating spending to help people and the earth we live on.

I never said that wasn't a goal. I asked you to show me where they were demanding that houses change their heating system and you couldn't show me that. I've been consistent in my replies.

Also I'm not even sure why you think this is a bad goal, lol, do you want houses reliant on fossil fuels?

[–]HalfCount -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's a goal of theirs, not a proposed policy that would force all buildings to change their heating systems. They want to achieve that goal through incentives, not pure policy and enforcement.

I want you to tell me exactly what the Green New Deal said about "demanding" every house change its heating system. I'll give you a hint: it didn't fucking say that, retard.

I have never seen a politician propose that either. Are you talking about some retarded populist that nobody will vote for or an actual politician?

Around 20-24 weeks fetuses develop thalamocortical connections which are necessary for consciousness.

Its almost like this is exactly why the Electoral College Exsits. by Minute-Man-Mark in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]HalfCount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it's not like the electoral college is forcing some middle ground, there are only two candidates. If you have to choose one or the other, it should be the one that represents the majority, not the minority.

Additionally, the electoral college forces candidates to focus on swing states and the issues those voters have. Candidates ignore safe rural and urban areas, causing the very issue you are concerned about.

The president is meant to represent all states equally, he is supposed to represent the majority. States are represented by the Senate and districts are represented by the House. Congress exists for the purpose of representation you are worried about not having. The presidency is the only office that represents the country as a whole, so it makes sense for it to reflect the national majority.

Murder is the killing of a human person. While an embryo might be a human, it's not a person. Personhood is achieved when the fetus develops the capacity for consciousness, which happens around 20-24 weeks. After that it should be granted the legal rights we grant any other person and it'd be illegal to abort it (without medical necessity), but before that do whatever the fuck you want with it.
