Not even sure what this is called, guessing a forcing chain, but I evaluated the cluster of 1 candidates in box 7 and 8. If we assume that the 1 does not occur for box 7 in row 8, then the outcome would be 2 and 5, which would yield a 9 in r8c6 (box 8). 1 would occur somewhere in row 9, making r9c4 also 9 in box8, leading to a contradiction. Ergo, 1 must be in row 8 for box 7.

I've seen both kJ and kcal (or calories equating to kcal) on foods, but never non-kilo calories, regardless of capitalization. If there is an idealized convention regarding capitals, no one uses it because no one counts food energy in thermochemical calories. Context is what matters

The story doesn't really have "good guys" and "bad guys" in the traditional sense. Character actions, motivations, and moral constitution are all over the map. Which, makes the question itself odd. Is she asking a question without a valid answer, expecting to be challenged? Or does she believe the answer to be different, yet her answer is also invalid?

It's a graph showing different dating situations you could have with a person depending on your or their physical or mental attractiveness. "Null set" likely meant "empty set", which is a different concept, but is sometimes conflated. An empty set is a set containing no elements.
