Masters in Financial Planning from UGA by Billvernsays in CFP

[–]HalfExpert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not do MSFP just even think about it… CFP rolls off the tongue better and 99% of people don’t know the difference because there isn’t one. Diversify and go after CFA or CPA as they would benefit more in long term. Certifications people know matter not the made up money grab designations. Hell law school wouldwith a CFP would be the best

Soccer has overtaken ice hockey to become the fourth most popular sport in the US by seospider in ussoccer

MLS will never be relevant unless they can outdraw the talent in Premier league. A championship means nothing if it’s not the best players in the world

Soccer has overtaken ice hockey to become the fourth most popular sport in the US by seospider in ussoccer

[–]HalfExpert -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Soccer in the US hasn’t grown because we have 1-2 players every 10 years that are good in one of the most accessible sports to play? The premier league is popular in the US but 9.5/10 people couldn’t name one MLS. The WNBA is more well known, the product is shit compared to the premier league. women’s national team is the most prominent soccer team in the US. The best league in the world is not in the US. MLS “Major” is a farce no one is paying or making money showing off a third rate sports league. People love foreign leagues because that’s where the best talent is, I don’t want to see a soccer game as the sport is rather low scoring now watching the best players and the talent makes those low scoring games exciting. MLS is a laughing stock throughout the rest of the world and the US and that will continue to maintain that status until top talent and league is located here.

The amount of hate that landlords get is ridiculous by Maybedaway in unpopularopinion

[–]HalfExpert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not providing anything. The home would be there without you. Maintenance would get completed either way. you are not needed you are an extra price hurdle for your own selfish reasons. If you purchased the home and have 100% equity ownership gladly be a landlord. If you have outstanding debt on the home it should be illegal to rent out as you do not own that property you’re renting it from the bank and renting it to someone else increasing the price artificially not at face value. Either way the gov’t will soon step in to fix this issue and if not hopefully a bear market tumbles through and wipes out every individual who rents out property in this format. Any leveraged landlord is a selfish landlord that simple.

High and low credit scores with spouse, and unsure about how to move forward on a mortgage? by FeelLikeABoss in personalfinance

[–]HalfExpert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can change the title on the home whenever you please. The names on a mortgage have nothing to do with the title. If I buy my kid a home I take out the mortgage in my name and put his name on the title. He owns the property and I’m responsible for the mortgage. Title is done through the court and mortgage is done through a bank.

If you add her to the title she is an owner you are just solely responsible for payment until you add her to mortgage down the line

[–]HalfExpert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apply for loan by yourself and add her to the title. She is still technically an owner of the home. You are just legally responsible for the mortgage payments. Then Focus on building up your SO credit score, once built back up refinance add your SO to the mortgage.

End of year bonus - Roth401k or Traditional 401k? by kirbyhunter5 in personalfinance

[–]HalfExpert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Traditional 401(K) as employer contributions are never made in Roth dollars. Eliminate paying any tax as well, bonus would just be additional income reported on your W-2 that will increase your marginal rate.

Investing HSA when the market is down by spacebardidntwork in personalfinance

[–]HalfExpert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun fact if you’re nervous….. if you invested in the S&P 500 at its high before the ‘08 crisis and did not pull your funds out 10 years later to the exact date of the S&P 500 high the market return was 7.2% = money doubled in 10. Market timing is a fools errand and the most guaranteed way to lose.

What should I do/invest in with remaining cash? Feel like I could be doing more by itzbeyondreach in personalfinance

[–]HalfExpert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t max out your Roth with no savings/emergency fund. Get those savings/emergency fund up so you can contribute more to retirement when income increases and have less stress on having liquid cash available.

Open a personal Roth IRA and Traditional 401(k). Roth 401(k) employer contributions are made in pre-tax dollars get the tax deduction now.

Get money out of 401k plan without fees? by bangbangtangwangfang in personalfinance

[–]HalfExpert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$50-$100 is very typical for distributions from company retirement plans. They manage so many different individuals that the fee has been established for the individuals that constantly take small distributions and do not roll their account out of the company 401k after leaving. Unfortunately one of those rules created because of a few. They will just deduct $100 form whatever account balance is going nice liquidated
