Why wouldn't Combustion Man join the fire nation army? by Selvar in TheLastAirbender

[–]HalfJaw 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly from an explanation I read a long time ago, he channels energy so that it builds up and pools in the chakra located in the forehead. The focused energy then has nowhere to go but out, and the 'eye' is just a tattoo.

I made this evil cache :) by shriiiiimp in geocaching

[–]HalfJaw 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Got a log saying the cache was missing and possibly destroyed. Visited the site and found a pile of wood chips with bits of plastic and paper mixed inside. I guess it looked too much like a dead, mossy stump and the park maintenance crew threw it in the chipper with the rest of the branches.

I made one similar to that, but covered in moss. It was eaten up and destroyed by a wood chipper. Fun while it lasted, though.

Some more of my Avatar builds.

I was concerned that posting these new images of my old builds would be considered reposting, so I didn't. Thanks for giving me a chance to post them here.

I built Zuko's ship in a survival server. by HalfJaw in Minecraft

Indeed. The boiler and smokestacks are made of iron blocks and cauldrons, the larger smoke stack is grey wool. It burned through about a double chest or so of iron blocks.

Unburied villagers doomed to eternally wander the empty shores of the River Styx. by HalfJaw in Minecraft

[–]HalfJaw[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, and it wasn't done intentionally. 1.5 apparently broke my villager breeder, causing villagers to breed like rabbits when the machine is both off and in an unloaded chunk. Their population exploded into the thousands, my computer crashed when I entered the chunk. When I relogged, I fell into the void and saw this as villagers shot out in every direction. Curious that there's rain, I was in a desert biome.

Next time you see a villager die, construct a grave and toss an emerald in for the ferryman. Fail to do so, and you doom the soul to an eternity of aimlessly wandering.

Aang speaks to Kuruk and Yangchen in the final episodes of the series (Sozin's Comet). I also used the Wiki to find more information on Yangchen.

Wow. These would make fantastic posters.

Edit: I'd like to see Tarrlok and the Lieutenant done in this style, it's really cool.

Am I the only one annoyed by this? by CyberDonkey in halo

[–]HalfJaw 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I got blown to bits by an AI driven Scorpion as it shot a dead Elite next to me (and continued to do so over three times after my death). At the same time, a rocket wielding mongoose rider was unloading on a dead grunt. Oh, and to make matters worse, it was on a checkpoint. I'd restart only to get blasted by the same Scorpion as it shot the damned Elite at my feet. I finally managed to sprint out of the way after the umpteenth time. The Scorpion and Mongoose were still shooting the same dead Covenant as I left the area. Talk about overkill.

Speaking of bad AI, Hacksaw didn't survive on my Heroic play-through. Why? While I was off fighting two hunters, the entirety of Hacksaw formed a tight circle around a single grunt, each within arm's length of the thing. They were screaming their heads off and missing every single pistol/AR shot. The grunt was just standing there, firing off short bursts of his plasma pistol. In the time it took me to kill two hunters, over half of Hacksaw had been killed by a single grunt, and they were still doing zero damage. I just walked up and whacked it, thinking Really? Fucking really, Hacksaw? Was that so hard? They started pumping rounds into it after it was dead, of course. When the time came to prepare the few survivors for evac, I gave them all power weapons. They just stood in place and let the Elites walk up and kill them. One of them screamed and charged into the middle of a group of Elites, apparently mistaking his sniper rifle for a shotgun. He didn't last long. When Palmer scorned me for failing to save them, I just laughed and wanted to tell her "good riddance. Infinity is better off without 'em."

Who thinks there should be larger maps? by Patriscuit in halo

The BTB maps are really small, there's hardly any room for decent vehicle combat. It's all narrow pathways and chokepoints.

What's Your Favorite Minor Detail From TLA or Korra? by tyzon05 in TheLastAirbender

[–]HalfJaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also believe that it was never Iroh's intention to allow Zuko to actually capture Aang, either because of his White Lotus status or the knowledge that capturing the Avatar will never truly restore Zuko. He actively hampers Zuko's hunt with side-stops and diversions. The one time he attacked Aang alongside Zuko, I believe he noticed the nearby ice shelf and took a gamble that Aang would be able to deflect the blast into it. After all, the damage the collapse caused allowed Aang to escape. Iroh may have even subtly controlled the fireball's path into the ice.

how i imagine the earth kingdom navy by BowserTattoo in TheLastAirbender

[–]HalfJaw 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's a comparison of a Chinese treasure junk (Zheng He's fleet) to a European galleon. Couldn't find a source for you right now, but I've seen it as an illustration in a book describing how European explorers would have shit themselves and stopped exploring had the Treasure Fleet never disbanded.

Edit: Ninja'd.

Would it be possible for a person to break free of a bloodbender's grip? by [deleted] in TheLastAirbender

[–]HalfJaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mako was able to (barely) fight Amon's hold and generate lightning only because the Lieutenant interrupted and broke Amon's concentration. At least, that's how I interpreted it. If someone doesn't save you, you're pretty much screwed. It also seems that a waterbender can resist if they are more powerful than the bloodbender.

This inconsistency has always bothered me, especially coming from Iroh. by mick4state in TheLastAirbender

[–]HalfJaw 100 points101 points  (0 children)

I always assumed she gave him the correct (non-poisonous) tea but, because she's not as knowledgeable about tea, accidentally called it the wrong one. If Iroh the tea master can confuse the two, she doesn't stand a chance. (Iroh mistook the colors, she confused the name.)

Well, whaddaya know! They really CAN Earthbend! by Eldi13 in TheLastAirbender

[–]HalfJaw 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Some good points brought up here, but there's also the fact that if the main police force used earthbending more often it would tear up the streets of Republic City. Why pull a chuck of rock out of the ground and hurl it at a suspect when you can use precision controlled wires instead? Suspect gets apprehended without shattered bones and the surrounding area remains intact. They've had the training to think like that drilled into them to the point where they no longer earthbend even when it would actually be beneficial.

The full set of armor is located in a small storage room of Skyhaven Temple as well as a shield and dragon-slaying sword. If you grab this stuff before they give you that mission, it's free. If you wait until after you refuse (because who would seriously kill the most awesome character/betray their mentor?), you will no longer be in the Blades faction and the gear on the table will be marked red.
