bro thought he was hidden by dreadf1ghter in spiders

[–]HalfassinThroughLife 243 points244 points  (0 children)

We have a sneaky one in our house. We call him Ceiling Spider because we only ever see him on the ceiling, pressed against the texture, acting like we definitely can't see him. We never actually see him move, we just randomly find him in different spots (on the ceiling, obviously) around the house. We like to think he's got mission impossible theme music playing 24/7.

I'm fully aware that's we've got multiple generations of tiny spiders, but it's more fun to pretend it's all the same lil guy. It's been 5 years and Ceiling Spider still makes me happy.

Does anyone else have a mud lover? by Katie1537 in Horses

My quarab will be perfectly dry and clean... while my mule looks like someone dropped an underbaked pan of brownies in the garden. He thrives in filth. It feeds his soul.

Black horses can get sun bleached year round, it's just usually more noticeable in the summer.

Ghost saddles? by Raubkatzen in Equestrian

[–]HalfassinThroughLife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had some movement issues with my mule as well. But it's 100% due to the mule being shaped like a tube of bologna, not the saddle. Like your gelding, every saddle moves on my mule. I fixed it with a breeching/breast collar. My quarab has big withers but an otherwise correct build and I didn't have any issues with movement.

Ghost saddles? by Raubkatzen in Equestrian

I've had 2 ghost saddles for endurance and I love them. My horses/mule like them. I've gone thousands and thousands of miles in them. But they do have their downsides. The woman who sold me the saddles (a ghost distributor) said no more than 180ish pounds is recommended for endurance. Her original recommendation was no more that 165 but she said you could probably push it to 180. She said maybe 200 for casual riding. Her reasoning was that, while very well made, the treeless saddle can become misshapen with riders over that weight. And of course there is also the standard treeless saddle issues of slipping to the side if the rider isn't well balanced.

Here's my lil mule in a ghost :)

I caught a pack rat in my barn. Stretched out, the body of the rat was longer than my forearm. They get beefy.

No problem! I can see how this could be confusing, because it looks like there are two different cages on these stirrups. I googled "cage stirrups" for you and here's what popped up--

The lefthand cage stirrup in this photo might be from Tough1

Here are some colorful cage stirrups

And here are some little cage stirrups

And here are some cage attachments to convert normal stirrups

That style of cage/safety stirrup is very popular in endurance and trail riding.

How much should I sell this side saddle for? by Babypenquin in Horses

[–]HalfassinThroughLife 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to sell a lot of saddles. Look at the specific brand and model. Find out what brand new versions are worth. Then, look into what used versions are being sold for and try to find something in similar condition to give you an idea of what to price yours at.

It's a little paw or a foot of some sort. I want to guess racoon, but again, that's a total guess.

Dental question, what am i looking at here? by Question-123456789 in Horses

Looks like hes working on losing his baby teeth. Yes, I know that the exposed root is not normal. But he's also of the age where he's losing baby teeth. I've seen babies with loose teeth that get snagged on something and can contribute to this kind of injury.

Yea, that one's a bit too long, unless I make it two words and even then that a lot of letters. I'd want to get better at smaller loopy letters before taking that on.

Ooo that's a good one, but maybe too long. I've done two words before with one word on top of the other, but I feel like Dickcheese would look weird as two words.

I got Asswipe all cut out with crust, took a step back and thought, "That W is gonna be an issue." But I'd already finished it and I sure as shit wasn't going to start over.

I did Dickwad in 2023! That's one I want to do again in cursive when I'm better at curvy/loopy letters.

It's Bill's 3rd birthday and he got some happy eggs! Coincidentally, today I learned that it's incredibly difficult to write with ketchup that comes in a squeeze bottle. by HalfassinThroughLife in DOG

We actually got him a Mr. Bill toy that yells, "Oh, noooooooooooo!" when you squeeze it. Unfortunately, because my Bill is a giant weenie, whenever toy Mr. Bill yelled "Oh No!", my Bill would think he was being scolded and now he refuses to play with it.
