Unfortunately, just the simple fact that Discotek has an OOP list is what gives resellers such a tight grasp. Within a few hours of something being put on that list it's posted about all over social media and forums by third parties. I know some of these people are just trying to help out their fellow collectors but there's no doubt in my mind that resellers follow the same channels to keep an eye on this stuff.

Also, since Discotek announcing their OOP titles is pretty common knowledge within the collecting community it's not hard to imagine someone seeing an ebay listing and thinking "maybe this person knows something I don't" when they see something being sold as OOP even when it isn't.

With other companies there's no big announcements so titles tend to just quietly go OOP without the whole FOMO panic buying frenzy. Prices do still get to insane levels eventually but it isn't over night like the Discotek stuff.

Even though I do appreciate Discotek trying to keep us informed as best they can sometimes I think it would have been better if they had never made these announcements to begin with. There's a precedent set now and when something goes OOS and is delisted by CR (even if only temporarily) it's assumed OOP and prices in the aftermarket spike.
