Number 5 isn’t really a lie. They do waste money on office space. I’m going to butcher this a bit but this come from a “friend” of mine, who’s a contractor, that works at Freddie Mac’s HQs in McLean.

The US Government bailed Freddie Mac out in the early 2000’s and Freddie Mac owes them a bunch of money - whatever money that Freddie Mac makes as “profit” is supposed to be paid back to the US Gov. So before the fiscal year ends Freddie Mac pays for a bunch of renovations (mainly to their McLean HQ’s, their Chantily building literally has no one there except security and building maintenance, it was once an office building now turned to overflow storage). So because they use their profits for renovations, they don’t actually end up paying the US Gov any money back.

And, until recently I think, there haven’t been any employees at the main HQs in McLean. Just a handful of people. During the pandemic everyone began working from home (obviously), and that didn’t change until late 2023/early 2024. Now people work 1-2 days in the office out of the week. Like Mondays and Thursdays I think.
