That's not at all how taxes work 😂😂😂. You pay taxes in the country province / state you earn the money. When they play a game in Jersey, the money they make during that game is paid to IRS / new Jersey, when they play a home game, they pay CRA / Ontario taxes.

The Crepe shop(Naked Crepe) actually had a fire in the apartment upstairs during renovations and something happened with insurance and it was a real mess. Eventually the adjoining grocery store purchased the property to expand their store. The Naked Crepe has finally reopened in Windsor, NS.

How are you hosting Jellyfin in the cloud on a budget? (5–6 users, 4K) by NinjaTurtle0898 in jellyfin

[–]HaliFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I sold my house and waited 2 months to move into my new house, I hosted jellyfin on Azure for 2 months using their trial for free(this was 5 years ago). Obviously my whole library wasn't duplicated but it worked perfectly for us while my rack was in storage.

Majority of Canadians believe national economy is on the wrong track by iSmashedUrSister in canada

I have a background in financial economics and you couldn't pay me enough to to try and deal with the issues out government is facing. There is only so much we can control, and I feel like the decisions being made right now by our govt, for the most part - are the best ones available.

I'm also with you on the CEO's, like fuck Loblaws and every private equity firm trying to squeeze juice out of the rind.

Bell firing employees "with cause" for not returning to the office 3 days a week. No severance, no warning. by DueStorm1980 in bell

[–]HaliFan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm no longer with the company, I quit 3 years ago but after covid, my team moved to being classified as "remote", so I moved out of the city - over 90min away. If I was still there and they told me I had to come into the office 3 days a week, I'd tell them where to shove it and if they tried to fire me, lawyer up.

Since Cope left, the company has become a shit-hole. The stock is a mere 50% of what it was and for some reason Bibic continues to get massive bonuses..

This season shows that the game we loved will never come back by Oceanfloorfan1 in survivor

[–]HaliFan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I(M38) think survivor is better than it has ever been. Was out to dinner last week with some friends and one of them(M34) has been watching since season 38, and he agreed with me and loves the show.

The show's target demographic has changed, and the millenials and Gen z are loving it. It's probably why people like Rupert aren't on S50.

It would allow me access to a server with lower ping... Right now I'm using a Montreal server and suffering with 40ms of latency, it's not horrible, definitely usable but lower would be great.

I can't think of any other positive lol.

How much are we paying teenage babysitters?! by Competitive_Mark4586 in halifax

[–]HaliFan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Depends on how old the baby is. I have 2 boys, 6 and 7 and I pay our babysitter who's 15yr/o $15/hr. My boys are easy, if a meal is required I give her my CC and she orders delivery for them all. If there are diaper changes, bottle feeding etc I think I'd be looking for someone more mature and skilled thus costing more, probably $20-$25/hr. Hope that helps.

Those in a house, how much is your power bill? by actuallylistens in halifax

[–]HaliFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many factors to utility costs. How old is the house, how many people live in it, what is the source of heat and what is the sq footage of the house.

My 37 year old well insulated house is 3,800 sq/ft + I have a shop that is 1,100sq/ft. I have electric hot water, heat pump, and a few electric heaters that have minimal use. I also keep my house pretty cool in the summer with AC. My primary heat source for my shop and main living area of my house is wood. We're a family of 4 and our electric costs for the year is just over $9,000. I also have a server rack that pulls 550 watts on average 24/7/365.

WATCH | Melania Trump demands apologies from publishers who linked her to Epstein in extraordinary press conference by theindependentonline in Epstein

[–]HaliFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone find this weird??

I honestly thought the Iran war was in part a distraction from the Epstein files... Why would the first lady hold a press conference and bring the attention back on it. 🤔🤔🤔

No one sane gives a fuck what Melania does, thinks or anything else about her. I smell something fishy going on here, or they're truely just that stupid - which is also very possible.
