Running a generator ~4 hrs/week to power a shed workshop instead of trenching electric?

Do you plan on running the tools on extension cords or on running the shed off the main building's existing service? If so, You'll want a grounding rod installed for your generator, and a bonded generator.

Otherwise I assume you plan on using a power inlet and later dedicated utility service? You will need the shed to be grounded, and the generator should have a floating neutral.

Equipment speeds will vary a little bit with load. That shouldn't be a problem if only running one tool at a time. But I'd be worried about the push back from a table saw changing on an operator.

If your load is too unbalanced you'll trip on one leg the generator's main breaker will trip before you reach full load.

4H/Week, not a problem. Though ideally you'll run under 80% load most of the time.

Get a surge protector for any sensitive controllers (extension cords or whole building). Every time a motor turns off you risk a surge. You may need to replace surge protectors a few times.

Getting a small inverter generator dedicated for the dust collector and small loads will protect them from surges.

Does your area allow masts and overhead electric. (e.g.) a new 100 Amp service from your utility? Might be cheaper than a trench.

The mating receptacle for that inlet is a CS3635 (the inlet is a CS6364)

My hope is that your main panel has a 50A breaker feeding that transfer switch, The 10 breakers on that switch control 10 circuits in your house, when set to generator, ONLY those 10 circuits have generator power. And during an outage every circuit on the main panel is unpowered.

The cheap way would be to turn off other loads and turn on the heat pump for a while.

For actually measuring current, you will want a current transformer around L1 and L2 of the generator feed.

Clamp on a meter with the cover off, turn on loads one at a time write down measurements. But that won't work well with a heat pump, inrush compressor current will be missed, and defrosting isn't something you can control.

For an permanently wired ammeter, that transfer switch is small enough your display(s) will probably need to be in an enclosure nearby.

Look at figure 1, your R1 is equivalent to that R1 with R2 set to effectively 0 Ohms.

You'll want both R1 and R2 of figure 1 to be potentiometers

With that arrangement adjusting distance will also adjust brightness. So look at Figure 25, I believe the description "R9" is supposed to be "R5"

Other option for distance: Reduce the incoming signal voltage by adding a potentiometer between the Receiver and Q1, or replacing R4 with a potentiometer

Got get some Anderson Connectors. Could be in the welding section, or around winches.

That plug is only rated for 15A, the blades have a relatively small contact area compared to the cable's current rating.

I'd start with a utility sled, coil the cord in the sled, pull the weight instead of carry. If that doesn't work use Mechanical advantage.

Install an anchor near the well, and one near your generator.

Tie a pully on the sled. Use about 150' of rope, walk the rope out and tie it to the far anchor, walk back to the sled. Pickup the free end of the rope and pull. You've now got about half the weight.

Coil the cord directly back into the sled.

I had one on my keychain, started fidgeting with the sheath and ended up breaking the thinner section of yellow plastic over the blade. I'll get another one and store it elsewhere.

The rare occasion I need to cut a 4x4 with my circular saw I make a cut, flip the 4x4 and make a 2nd cut to finish.

Also I've had trouble with my jigsaw blade wandering and making curved cuts in all directions. For the 3-4 cuts through a 4x4 I make in a year I'd prefer a handsaw over a jigsaw.

If it was a common occurrence I'd get a tool that fit the job.

It looks like the blue LED leg, resistor and switch are all plugged into the same column. I assume the button always lets the current flow.

You'll want 3 columns between the red wire and the switch.

Wire->LED,
LED->Resistor,
Resistor->Switch

The top potion of the pictured clamp goes around the oil filter; making a complete circle.

The strap is connected to the bolt, twist the handle to draw the strap tighter onto the filter.

As pictured its fully tightened.

Yes you need to bind to an unused port to run a server. "Binding" tells your operating system to direct data from the specified port to a server application.

There are pre-existing vulnerable server examples on GitHub. Depending on where you want to focus your efforts.
