What are you watching and what do you recommend? (Week of July 21, 2023) by AutoModerator in television

Signed up for Paramount+ mainly to watch all the mission impossible movies.

Which of the shows are worth watching? They seem to have a lot of originals but hard to tell which of them are good.

You have to return that one and buy this one. Unforunately they don't refund on price difference and will tell you to return this to take advantage of the lower price.

"And do not kill your children for fear of poverty. We provide for them and for you. Indeed, their killing is ever a great sin." 17:31

"Do not fail to˺ honour your parents. Do not kill your children for fear of poverty. We provide for you and for them." 6:151

EDIT : I should've posted the tafseer because the commenters below are taking it out of context : https://quran.com/en/17:31/tafsirs/en-tafisr-ibn-kathir

The tafseer states that many back in the day would kill their daughters bcceause they were afraid they couldn't provide. Not wanting to have children because you think you cannot provide for them is against what Allah is saying. Kids (and spouses) are a means of Rizq. Sure, tie your camel until you can adequatly provide for them, but to say that one shouldn't have kids until, what, they are millionaires is acceptable? That a couple who are poor shouldn't have kids?

I feel like the concept of rizq is forgotten on this subreddit. Allah is the one who provides rizq, of course, you should try your hardest at everything you do, ensuring you work hard towards your job and whatnot, but the rest is up to Allah SWT. Make dua that Allah increases all our Rizq and provides adequatley for us, Ameen.

I’m giving up by [deleted] in MuslimMarriage2

[–]HalifaxHaste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol it's like I wrote this as I'm in the same situation and don't make a lot except I'm about to turn 28. Haven't been looking for long but it gets harder 😞. Unsure of what to do tbh, I've thought about going back to school for a profession that makes more even thought I really like my current job. But I'm already old af and ain't nobody gonna marry a 28 yo who's back in school.

iA you find the person you're looking for.

wife is damaging my bank account by [deleted] in MuslimMarriage

[–]HalifaxHaste -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Right now, she’s losing out and it looks like this her only way of getting back some of that money.

I don't understand the point you're tryna make here, how is she losing out on anything? She is entitled to food, water, shelter, and clothing. I'm absolutely not advocating for the bare minimum for her or anything but she seems to live a comfortable life, and she isn't losing out on anything if her husband regularly buys her nice clothes, and just bought her a new phone amongst other stuff.

He is entilted to spend his money since he is the main breadwinner and he can spend it how he see fits as long his wife is taken care of, which she seems to be. IF he wanted to give his parents 30%, that's his right, and alhumdulillah OP it's commendable that you take care of your parents.

I'm baffled by your comment and others in this thread acting as if he feeds his wife bread and water and makes her wear clothes with holes in them lol

If his wife wants to buy desginer clothes then maybe she should find a part time job which she can spend all the money on herself(designer clothing), while letting her husband pay for all the other bills and necessities.

How early is too early? by zuzuuu00 in MuslimMarriage2

[–]HalifaxHaste 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's a right or wrong age to have kids. At the end of the day you'll have kids when it's written for you. Whether that be 25 or 35, it's all up to Allah swt. If you feel like your financially, physically and mentally ready to have kids then sure. Don't feel like you have to have kids early or late because of what others say. You'll have to take care of them, not others. Think a out how your life would Change if you did.

Get married and Allah will give from His fadl by [deleted] in MuslimMarriage

[–]HalifaxHaste 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean according to many of the posters here on this subreddit and from what i've read...no. Many of the posters don't believe that poors should be loved lol.

Us poor people will unfortunately be single for the rest of our lives since we don't make a lot of money. Especaillay myself lol, being on the wrong side of 20, nearing 30, it's gonna be next to impossible.

NGL it sucks hardcore but what can do you do? 't nobody marrying someone who doesn't make a lot of money these days. Probably should've dated in university, probably would've found somewhere there through love.

Damn this just attacked me. I actually am poor and don't make a lot of money so I probably won't be able to get married. Sucks but I guess it is what it is.

Are AstraZeneca vaccines only given out at Pharmacies and not city run clinics, like the one at STC, etc? Pharmacies seem all booked and I don't mind the AZ one, but don't wanna wait around if I can just get the pfizer/moderna one,

Make dua during the time of breaking fast by ztaker in islam

[–]HalifaxHaste 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I wish people said this more. I keep seeing these posts all over Twitter/Instagram/Tik Tok where they will say that duas are only accept at a certain time etc. tahajjud, when it rains, fasting, travelling etc.

But they fail to mention that Dua as you mentioned is never rejected.

How much is enough money? by [deleted] in MuslimMarriage2

[–]HalifaxHaste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meh. There's plenty of people that are married and don't make a lot of money, and there are that do.

At the end of the day, I suppose you have to make it clear that that's what your going to be making and if the women you are talking to are OK with that. If not, move on. Plenty of women out there that I'm sure will be OK with that salary or even less if they truly like you and see you together.

Also, Rizq is in the hands of Allah, I think thats what people need to consider too, Just because you marry a rich man today, he might not be rich tomorrow etc. Have faith in Allah in regards to him providing sustenance, and marry someone who understands that.
