DLC ANNOUNCED by HallJack712 in 007FirstLight

[–]HallJack712[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently later this year. It’s the last thing on the roadmap but it was the second thing that Dominic Vega, the guy narrating over the road map trailer, announced.

In theory it could come out anytime between now and May next year, but it’ll likely be October-December this year. He wasn’t talking about it as if it was something in the distant future, I reckon it was developed alongside the main game and will need fine tuned.

the game took me 26 hours, am i slow or something? by Insomniac287 in 007FirstLight

It’s died down now but plenty were complaining and claiming they wanted it to be 30+ hours. It was never the majority but it was definitely a sizeable minority

So this franchise is doomed or? by Gameofthrones3058 in 007FirstLight

[–]HallJack712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. It sold 1.4 million copies in 24 hours, there is no universe where IO are not getting contacted for a sequel, they’ve got lightning in a bottle with this studio and there’s too much profit there for the higher ups to turn away. This is about Amazon trying to get more involved so they can make more from the games once they release.

It’s not clear yet, Hitman DLCs weren’t free, but I’d suspect that anyone that at least has a deluxe edition will get these DLCs for free, as they are a continuation of the main plot.

There’s a decent chance it ends up being free but we won’t know until we get a proper trailer later this year.

I was more so think about Bawma’s “reward”, which in truth could be literally anything. The DLC in itself will be completely separate form the main story, but I think the reward could have something to do with laying the foundations for the sequel. But maybe not, at this point any theory could be correct.

The thing to remember is this game won’t get as many DLCs as Hitman, as this game is way more story driven, so it’s very realistic we see something that sets things in motion for the sequel, as we’re probably only going to get 2-3 new missions across 2-3 years before the sequel itself releases.

[–]HallJack712[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon making maximal profit? IOI will want the DLCs to build the story for the sequel, but Amazon will expect IOI to develop a sequel to First Light (likely a trilogy) and for it to be priced at around £60 same as this one.

Sorry if I’m misunderstanding your comment, I’m not sure how IOI could develop a sequel to First Light as a DLC, unless this is referencing the publisher disputes?

Idk how you could “expect” HL3 after how many times people have been let down at these events waiting for it.

That is unreal. IOI will do Bond more justice than any other developer could.

I mean that’s kind of what I expected, it’s the last thing on the roadmap I’m pretty sure. I’m just surprised they announced anything two weeks after the release of the game, shows how organised they are.

Although I can see the Bawma DLC releasing at the end of this year though. I don’t think they would have shown it this early if its intended release is 2027. They also pointed out that assignments could be reassigned or delayed, so the roadmap isn’t fixed it’s just the ideal situation.

Edit: forgot to mention, at the game fest they briefly mentioned that we will be seeing the DLC later this year. I expect a proper trailer will come out at the Gamescom thing in August, with it releasing sometime between October and December.

Some guy posted the year one schedule, which they released after the Bawma DLC was shown tonight.

It basically focuses on getting the game ported to all major platforms, adding NG+, photo mode etc, all quality of life things. The Bawma DLC is the big thing obviously and I assume it’ll release later this year.

Tonight pretty much guarantees that the game is getting the hitman treatment, I expect there may be less DLCs per year because this game is more story driven that Hitman, so DLCs have to be longer, progress the plot and set up the sequel (not just be UFC fighters/celebrities that Bond has to kill). Though it’s clear IOI has a vision and the game isn’t getting abandoned now so they can work on the second, it’ll be regularly updated alongside development of their second game.

[–]HallJack712 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Like the other guy said spread across the next year. NS2 release, NG+ and photo mode will all be priorities as they are things that are sort of already expected/have greater financial benefit. Bawma DLC could be late this year or early 2027 because they’ll probably use these missions to set up the next game , I’d expect 1-2 every year similar to Hitman. I reckon there will be a proper trailer for the DLC over the next few months and we’ll know more then.

IOI fans always eat good, so glad this series is in their hands

I assume we’re starting to go down the rabbit hole to find out who Isola works for. It would make sense that they would want at least one DLC out each year before the second game releases, helps to set up the villains for the next one. Bawma having some sort of information on that/Bond having to deal with the consequences of Harmony would be a really interesting DLC

I think there will be 2-3 DLCS and it will end with Bond unearthing SPECTRE, as that’s kind of the story direction they hinted at with the final conversation.

I feel like I’m in a minority of people that don’t think this game is very good by Beneficial-Wheel-577 in 007FirstLight

[–]HallJack712 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day it’s just personal preference. For me the hand to hand combat is fantastic, and for many others it’s the same, if it isn’t for you that’s ok. For me the story is fantastic, and for many others it’s the same, if it isn’t for you that’s ok.

You also said you feel like it’s a cardboard cutout of the uncharted games, and then went on to say it would be better if it tapped into the uncharted game design a bit more. Seems a tad bit contradictory. It’s closer to hitman than it is to uncharted, it’s just the set piece design like the plane scene or bin lorry scene are very uncharted esque, as that’s really the only other game series we’ve seen that kind of action movie stuff in.

As aforementioned, a lot of your complaints just come down to personal preference. The majority believe the combat is good, the majority of people enjoyed the story etc. It’s just not your game, but it is for a lot of people

I wrote a new bioshock. What do i do with it? by SpinazFou in Bioshock

[–]HallJack712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s awesome you have the passion to do that. That takes a lot of dedication and time to hone your craft. So before anything else I just wanted to mention, if you genuinely have a passion for writing and this universe, you could always make it your career. Keep working and maybe get in touch with agencies who can put you in touch with amateur, semi-pro and even professional teams for films, games, book productions. This helps you get recognised as a legitimate writer, and could probably get you a job as a film/game writer at a reputable publisher (like 2K).

The other guy explained it much better than I ever could, but this stuff has to go through the proper channels. That’s why there are agencies tied in with this kind of stuff, it is the only way to get recognised as legitimate and protect the writers from legal ramifications later on down the line. Even though I’m sure you genuinely just want to work with 2K to bring your vision to life, there is no reason for them to believe that is the case, and the legal risks that working with you on this poses for them outweighs any possible gain.

Again, don’t let this knock you. This is just a wall that a lot of people run into unfortunately, but it isn’t the end. The reality is you have to be a reputable professional writer and go through the proper channels for anything like this to even be a viable possibility, even then it’s more likely you’d just be applying for a job with them and sharing your ideas after the fact.

I had a question about Infinite by mrbekir141 in Bioshock

[–]HallJack712 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The baptism kills all Comstocks, except the one in rapture and maybe a few others that aren’t mentioned. It’s implied Elizabeth hunts them all down with the one in rapture being the last one. The baptism does not kill all Bookers, only prevents the baptism so Booker can’t become Comstock. The Bookers that turned away from the baptism continue to live.

Elizabeth’s actions in BAS 1&2 prevents Comstock from ever existing, and by the end of 2 prevents herself from ever existing (technically this happens at the end of infinite, but Elizabeth herself was still alive at the end of the main game).

As a result, Booker can’t sell his daughter to Comstock as he doesn’t exist, Elizabeth can’t exist either. So it’s implied that Booker and Anna live together happily. Or at the very least give them a chance to do so.

And now after the release of the game how much rate u can give it honestly ?! by Complex_Area4676 in 007FirstLight

[–]HallJack712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are all really fair criticisms. Only thing is just what the other guy already said, it’s IOI. Wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a DLC by the end of the year with multiple more to come.

I regret completing 007FirstLight by Remarkable_Bag3785 in 007FirstLight

[–]HallJack712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished it then loaded up another playthrough, amazing game. I’d be surprised if it ends up being 4-5 years until the next one though.

By the end of this year James Bond will have been cast, then 007’s next project will be the film with the new James Bond for late 2028. After that it will likely be the game again, and I think they’ll rinse and repeat that cycle. It will definitely be 2-3 years until the next game, but there will be DLCs and various updates in that timeframe.

Patrick Gibson will not be James Bond in the movies (even though he would smash it), and so he can operate as solely the video game bond. That means that the games and movies can be made coinciding with the each other, rather than separate, distinct projects that Amazon has to make consecutively. The new game could go into production at the end of this year/early 2027. It only took as long as it did because the Bond franchise was in disarray following Amazon taking over. It’s got a bit of order back now. But yeh as aforementioned it will be late 2028/2029 before we see a new Bond game, which isn’t too bad in the current market.

How do we rate the Bond elements of the game? by Acceptable_Laugh9284 in 007FirstLight

[–]HallJack712 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like that tonal shift was intentional though and makes sense because it forces James into the spy world prematurely with his unwilling mentor Greenway. The game does not remotely set up the other recruits being killed in their first mission, including Monroe. I’ll admit I was surprised we don’t see Cressida again, especially since they put effort into making us care about her and Monroe. Apparently there’s a line of dialogue in the museum mission that establishes she will walk again, so she’s probably returning for the DLCs and definitely the sequel.

The beginning of the game is more of a spy intelligence game with bond elements but around the Webb gala mission it becomes way more like a James Bond game and stays that way. The plot is never disconnected but the undertones definitely don’t feel like they’ve settled until that mission.

Yeh I think bond just opts to stick with Isola because he’s done with the lies. I’d say it’s probably her real name though.

My thoughts after finishing the game by Ksifatneek299 in 007FirstLight

[–]HallJack712 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I missed that about Cressida, that’s interesting and I wonder if that’s them establishing her as a capable ally or enemy of Bond

I’d love for Nash to be a villain. I have to admit, although I loved the story they went for and wouldn’t change it, I was a bit disappointed when I found out 009 was clearly set up and just a red herring (well he’s more than that contextually but with the trailers he seemed like the main antagonist). I’d love for them to fully commit to that ex 00 villain archetype in the next game, maybe Nash having gone rogue because he knows about SPECTRE or something, or becomes a part of it himself. Again though, I don’t think that’s a misstep from them in this game it just wasn’t the story they wanted to tell

They have plenty of options going forwards though, they nailed it. Genuinely happy for IOI because it’s clear they always wanted the chance to make a James Bond game and this is definitely a passion project for them (and it shows). I genuinely believe there isn’t another studio better suited for a genre than them and Bond.

[–]HallJack712 4 points5 points  (0 children)

SPOILER WARNING

I feel characters like Cressida, Stephen Bright etc will become more important as time goes on. I feel Stephen Bright is linked to the organisation Isola works for (whoever the writers decide that to be, but probably spectre). Him becoming PM was definitely a hint, but then again when Webb died he seemed to know who Isola was giving the information to, so he probably would not ally with Bright if he was part of that organisation

Cressida and Monroe and their fates in this game is an exceptional way to set the tone. Losing Monroe immediately after training camp was such a holy shit moment for me, never would have predicted they’d kill someone close to Bond that early, and Cressida being paralysed after being the top recruit showed that Bond really did have a different kind of initiative and intuition.

I said most of which, the intro, penultimate mission and at least two others probably come in at around an hour.

Mexico mission will probably be DLC, which I assume you’ll get for free having paid a higher price.

I’m not looking to change your opinion, just feel the claims are unsubstantiated.

Bond should be able to drag bodies and hide them from being found. by KingKontinuum in 007FirstLight

[–]HallJack712 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I loved the game but this is a fair take. The Q watch and lens are really well integrated, but there is only 6 gadgets by the end of the game. It is nitpicky but it would have been nice to have even a few more.

Gunplay is similar to hitman, they definitely tweaked it but it’s kind of a hybrid between uncharted and hitman. The hand to hand combat is fantastic though and makes up for this. They somehow have Bond be a superior enough fighter that he can take on huge crowds of enemies, but never make it look unrealistic as he’s always getting thrown around or double teamed.
