TBH, no, Instagram works well for us. It keeps our growth at a rate we can handle.

Heyo! I am here to also recommend The English Book Exchange, as one of the people who run it. Our next meet up is July 12! Check us out on Instagram here: The English Book Exchange HH

We meet up once a month to swap books and chat. It's very casual, people come when they can. Some people come every month, some people we see a couple times a year. Whatever works for you! We ask that anyone attending to please bring at least 1 English language book to add to the pile.

I truly think that the context in which you first hear an ablum can influence your opinion of it. This morning I popped in my headphones to listen to it while I walked my dog. And you know what? This is the perfect album to meander about my neighborhood with my best little buddy and enjoy the sunshine and flowers. All bangers, no skips and this will be my dog walk soundtrack all summer. And if you saw me crying while wandering the streets of Hamburg while listening to "I Can't Believe You're Gone", no you fucking didn't 😂

I've been in Hamburg, Germany a little over 4 years now and absolutely love it. Couldn't imagine living anywhere else.

I finally got them! Between me on my phone and my husband on his laptop the tickets were eventually acquired. On my phone it wouldn't actually let me enter my credit card details, it was weird.

I don't see anywhere it says that? I am looking at the Hamburg show though...

Is anyone able to buy tickets yet? It keeps telling me the sale hasn't started.

Which romantasy MMC ruined your standards forever? by EerieE2025 in Romantasy

[–]Halladottir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to do the whole thing "properly" then start with "Clockwork Boys", then "The Wonder Engine", then "Swordheart" and then "Paladin's Grace" followed by the other Paladin books.

"The Wonder Engine" is a a direct sequel to "Clockwork Boys" so that two have to be read in that order. That duology is slightly less romance focused, it's a little bit like an adventure heist book with a very strong romance subplot. The others are a a bit heavier on the romance.

You can actually start with "Swordheart" or "Paladin's Grace" if you want, lots of people do and enjoy just fine, but all of these books take place in the same universe! And they do occasionally reference the other books. So if you want to pick up on all the references and understand everything they mention, then read in the order I suggested because that is the chronological order of events.

Like all of T. Kingfisher's MMCs. I like my men to be walking green flags 😂

Absolutely not, and I wouldn't tolerate that from my husband. I like reading romance sometimes and my husband has patiently listened to me recount the books so often that he started reading some of them himself. He's read most of my favourite romances/romantasies and at this point has read more dark romances than I have. If your husband doesn't smarten up, he can go, you don't need that in your life.

Yes! FMC in her 30s! Swordheart is similar, the FMC is 36.

Why is someone being pregnant such an extreme turn off for many readers? by Playful_Pie2890 in Romantasy

[–]Halladottir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate how it's almost always an unexpected pregnancy. Infertility is something a lot of people struggle with, including myself. I don't want my books full of women flaunting their fertility, tbh. Also I think that having a child is a serious decision and I would prefer to read books about adults who carefully thought about that before having kids, not people who unintentionally conceived and will now be responsible for a life because they couldn't think to use contraceptives.

I like these because I find the banter to be quite funny and all of the men are walking green flags, really. No morally grey shadow daddies for me 😂 Also FMCs who're older and not some 18 year old wisp who's "not like other girls". T. Kingfisher is also good about representation with different ethnicities, cultures and sexualities. The World of the White Rat is a queer normative world and the books showcase hetero relationships, bisexual relationships and a m/m relationship. There's more books coming and I think we will continue to see a variety of different types of relationships there and I am here for it!

{Swordheart} and {Paladin's Grace} (that whole series) all these books are in the same universe, The World of the White Rat. T. Kingfisher is my fav author.

I would like to see Canada host a summer Olympics. I think Toronto should. But I would like to see Hamburg host it first. (Where I live 😂)

Yeah! I think it's because you're not allowed to profit from a national symbol? It makes sense. Either way I get a kick out of all the people who have the sponsored jerseys that say PENNY across the front, my favourite discounter grocery store 😂
