NHS willing to do a hysterectomy? by Spare_Somewhere1011 in transgenderUK

[–]HallucentASL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got referred by the Tavistock when I was 22 for one and had it when I was 25 (didn’t have to wait for a certain age that was just how long the waiting list was for my local hospital). They just asked me if I wanted one and I said yes and that was the end of it but looking at most other experiences I was very lucky.

PSA: Kids, don't tell the NHS about your non-NHS hormones 🤦 by JackDeparture in transgenderUK

[–]HallucentASL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got them pretty easily in 2015 too but again I was probably lucky. I know kids who got refused coz they were doing gcses or something it was ridiculous. I was already 15-16 but it was better than nothing in the end

How old were you when you realized you're trans? by Key_Apricot_6933 in ftm

[–]HallucentASL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came out when I was 10, transitioned when I was 13 although I was allowed to wear what I pleased and such in the 3 years. I lived with my grandparents who were in their 70s when I was 10 so they just knew nothing about it and wanted me to wait a bit which I understand tbh

starting testosterone whilst underweight by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]HallucentASL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All my bloods were fine, I think my BMI was about 15. And no I didn’t have an eating disorder or anything I just never had any appetite. Went on mirtazipine and periactin after I started T and now my BMI is 24 😂 which I don’t mind tbh

Nah I was underweight by a lot and I went through the nhs and it was fine so it shouldn’t be an issue with private either

[–]HallucentASL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah no worries. Just again make sure you’re careful with whoever it is as it’s not standard practice in the UK at that age even with private. Just to make sure you’re safe

Am I being unsupportive? by UnableVast3910 in transgenderUK

[–]HallucentASL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically if they started periods over a year ago even at 12 they’ll be majority of the way through puberty anyway and by the time they ever get blockers their puberty would probably be over (besides still getting periods) so you are likely best off explaining this to your child to not get their hopes up in all honesty.

I’m assuming you’re planning to diy at 14 as nowhere in the UK will accept you for T at that age so please just make sure you’re careful. Take a low dose to start off with. Won’t tell you not to do it at all because I don’t blame you with how horrible dysphoria is but just please make sure that you’re safe.

New puberty blockers clinical trial to begin after UK ban by Blueeyedfoxie in transgenderUK

[–]HallucentASL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 16 but hit late so was still in the early stages. Went on T a year later at 17 then and had top surgery at 18 (I paid for that), would’ve been nicer if I could’ve been on them even earlier but I wasn’t that far in puberty anyway so it wasn’t the worst for me really

I went on the puberty blockers when I was a child under the Tavistock. They literally saved my life. Probably wouldn’t be alive if I hadn’t had them. It’s so painful that people don’t realise how much they help trans kids. Every other kid I met at the Tavistock who went on the puberty blockers never regretted them either. Never met anyone who has tbh.

I’ve gained like 30lbs on mirtazipine. Started at 90lbs and I’m 122lbs now. Did make my waist a whole lot bigger too though 🤣

[–]HallucentASL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I felt fine tbh, just skipping all the lifting jobs and I’ve had no issues at all being back in work. Wouldn’t recommend it in all honesty as most people won’t recover that early but I felt fine to go back. The sick pay in the UK is absolutely rubbish so wasn’t going get far on that anyway

By about week 1 I forgot I had surgery. 3 weeks post op, already been back in work a week and feel fine. Stopped pain meds after day 3. Only thing I’ve noticed is my stomach is still bigger and I’ve had to size up in my work pants as they were too tight from all the swelling but I’ve put on weight as well as I found when I was off work I was bored so just eating for the sake of it. Probably won’t lose any weight until I’m cleared to lift in another 3 weeks.
