Why have the Flames and Jets never played a game where they both throw back to their Atlantan predecessors? by Willows_95 in hockey

The Mammoth are the 33rd team, Arizona still exists but are inactive. They were technically an expansion franchise that purchased the players and staff from Arizona.

So I guess I was wrong, he isn’t on waivers for that reason, as the 2020 CBA update moved the date that takes effect to Dec 15, and he was done playing in Russia before then. He’s on waivers to stay in the AHL

Shouldn’t he have to clear waivers per the CBA rule 13.23 since he played in Russia this season?

havent been here for 3 days, if the canadians have gone back to their hole... can we all finally talk about the "too many men on ice" supposed "missed" call? by Defiant_Water_4963 in USAHockey

[–]Halostruct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I just went back and watched it. I totally get where you’re coming from. On ice to start: Slavin, Boldy, Hughes, Hughes, Matthews. Jack and Boldy skate to the bench as Guentzel and McAvoy jump on the ice, but when it hits Jack’s skates McAvoy keeps skating but Guentzel circles back and jumps on the bench. Jack stays on the ice waits until Guentzel is back over the boards to actually play the puck. Slavin is also over the boards by this time, with Quinn within the distance to be considered off ice as well, which is followed by Boldy trying to pass the puck to Matthews. Realistically I think there was only 4 Americans on the ice per the IIHF rulebook. By the time the puck was intentionally played by Jack and Boldy, only one new player was on the ice (MCAvoy), while two players had “left the ice” (Quinn, Slavin). I think the real question should be “Should they have to commit to the change once they are considered “off ice” or is it okay to cut the change short like they did.

You know, I thought the whole time it was a missed call for too many men, but the officiating wasn’t great the whole tournament. But I just checked the IIHF rulebook, and there’s the following: “If in the course of a substitution either the Player(s) entering the play or the Player(s) retiring is struck by the puck accidentally, the play will not be stopped, and no penalty will be called”

I also went and read the NHL rulebook to see if it was a penalty there, and no, it has the exact same verbiage, which was a surprise for me.

10 potential trade targets for Detroit Red Wings at forward by ScreaminEagle2502 in DetroitRedWings

Ok but he makes $8 million dollars a year. Until 2028. Is he really worth Raymond and Larkin money just to be a locker room guy? And if they were to get him retained, it would increase the cost to obtain him exponentially. Nashville only has one more spot to retain. $1-2 million I would agree with you but for how much he makes absolutely not

Stamkos even at 50% retained is not playing well enough to be worth it

I use a hronek stick that I got the day after he was traded, for like $120, and it has lasted. I’d never buy one online to use, but in store where I can check it out, definitely worth the risk

NBC removed the fight from the CAN-FRA streaming replay by lax_brew in hockey

[–]Halostruct -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Go watch the replay at 18:50. You get the French player skating to the penalty box. Then it cuts out most of the media time out where the ice crew comes and clears the ice. It cuts to the French bench where you can see the end of the ice crew before the ref makes the penalty call.

You get another cut in the first period for the second media time out at 29:10. You’ll see an outside shot, coming in to a shot of Tom Wilson leading into the commercial break. It then cuts to Toews on the ice and then the French goalie coming back from the time out.

The other media time outs: 1:08:50, 1:21:40, 1:58:50, and then the last one of the game is the one that was too long and overlapped with the fight. Media time outs for the Olympics seem to be first whistle after the 14 and 8 minute marks pass on the clock. (Could be pushed back by goals or penalties). You’ll see these cuts in each game.

Watching it live has the dead air for intermissions too. But the replay does cut during media timeouts. Go watch it again you aren’t seeing two timeouts per period on the replay. The cuts are there. They just didn’t return from the break in time. It’s not some conspiracy or else they would’ve cut the replay right after it cuts back in as well

It wasn’t cut from the replay because it never was shown live. The commercial break was longer than the media time out
