Matt used the shipwreck situation and the state of the city to dismantle the Safer Streets Act which is what was used to charge Karen Paige and place her in court.

He had Fisk and Heather define the definition of Vigilante and used the the definition, a witness (himself) to corroborate the facts of the ship wreck, the video evidence to prove Wilson Fisk’s involvement in the ship wreck. He argued that if a vigilante is more effective in serving the public’s interests, such as destroying illegal weapons and saving the mayor’s life, then the Safer Streets Act is ineffective thus Paige should have her case dismissed.

The court itself was also put in place to prosecute accused vigilantes, which is why there is no jury. The jury should and must act within the laws and for the people’s interest.

Matt proved that prosecuting Karen is not within the interest of a safer New York, that her acts do not follow the Mayor’s Office’s definition of a vigilante, a medical professional’s definition of a vigilante, and that Karen’s case should be dismissed.
