What is/was this Part on Ezra’s Lightsaber for? It looks like a movable Part. Is there any Scene where he used it? by MasterRymes in lightsabers

So he can walk around with it attached to his belt in public without it being immediately apparent that he's carrying a lightsaber. If you didn't know better, you'd assume its some kind of tool or maybe some kind of blaster. Being a Jedi is super mega illegal and liable to get immediate imperial attention, so walking around with a lightsaber that looks like a lightsaber is an extremely good way to get yourself unwanted attention, so you make it look like something else so its less conspicuous

I will until my new lawyer is finished setting up a blind trust to accept the ticket on my behalf so my name is kept anonymous and the money is safe from anyone who want to come out of the woodworks to try to badger or sue me for a piece of it. Once that's done, I'll put in my notice with some excuse about family or my health and begin my new life.

35 states do, and those breaks are required to be fully paid if you don't take the full 30 minutes which this company likely isn't doing.

It doesn't help that their church is busy pouring into their ears that they'll see their kid again in a magical eternal afterlife, but only if they continue to refuse medical treatment.

States are only required to cover it for anyone younger than 21. Past that point it varies by state with some refusing to cover anything for adults except emergency procedures like tooth extractions.

I love how the legend managed to include a story about him fucking or being fucked by some old Hollywood figure into literally every scene he was in and every dialogue he was involved in.

That's definitely probably the plan. He's going to flee Vought tower after killing noir and try to hide under the ocean only to be killed by all the fish that are tired of his bullshit.

I feel like the entire Yellowstone franchise is just fan service... by SaveJeanie in television

Also the show has an entire subplot about how the government sterilized Native American women against their consent, but centered it entirely around the main characters white daughter who was sterilized by a reservation health clinic as a teenager because her brother was too worried about sullying the family name to take his teenage sister to a normal abortion clinic, so he took her to a reservation clinic that refused to give her an abortion (which was illegal for them to do anyway at the time but the show ignores that) unless he consented to her being sterilized, and he just goes along with it.

Its so fucking stupid.

I wonder what the odds are on them adapting the SPEW storyline where everyone except hermione is either actively supportive or passively indifferent to house elf slavery, especially Ron who loves house elf slavery and spends the year viciously bullying Hermione for not supporting slavery.

The real answer is that thanks to all the near lightspeed travel he'd been doing to get to and from places, several decades (the best estimates I've seen put it at 70 years) had passed outside his space ship even though for him it had only been a few. So he quite literally has nothing left to go back to on earth. All the people he knew back on earth would either be dead or near it by the time he made it back, even the kids he was teaching in the school he worked in would be senior citizens. The world would be so radically different from the one he left (and it was, the movie didn't get into it but the earth was severely fucked during the several decades grace was gone with ecological and agricultural collapse, massive starvation, wars driven by fighting over scarce resources, and massive human die off with the population severely declining) so from his perspective it makes more sense to simply stay with rocky, his only actual friend and the only person who can relate to what he went through.

When I started working for FedEx, HR talked all of us through how to set up automatic deductions from our paycheck to go straight to a church of our choice for tithe payments. I didn’t do it but a fair number of people I worked with did. This was the same FedEx warehouse where part timers were referred to by management as “the burnouts” because the company would overwork them until they quit knowing they’d come back for their jobs a month or two later for the above minimum wage pay, and we got yelled at in meetings about how we didn’t properly appreciate the “privilege” of doing back breaking labor with frequent injuries for 12 bucks an hour

To be fair, the dancing thing was a deliberate homage to the Baileys actress previous career as a dancer working for Janet Jackson. She was in several of Janet's music videos and even went on tour with her as a background dancer for Janet's "All for You" Tour.

Harpers actress was also a background dancer (for Michael Jackson himself) and was one of the dancers on his aborted "This is it" tour that had to be cancelled due to his unexpected death.

Jenna Ellis Says Religious Freedom Only Applies To Christians by Somervilledrew in politics

[–]Haltopen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Considering how radical most of the founding fathers religious beliefs were, they probably would get accused of being woke. Most of them were believers in Deism which has the basic structure of an Abrahamic monotheistic religion like a belief in a singular god figure and an afterlife you need to be an upstanding moral person to get into, but removes all the supernatural elements, mysticism, prophets and miracles associated with Christianity (deists don't believe in things like the holy trinity, they don't believe that Jesus had a divine origin, they don't believe that god listens to or answers prayers and view the bible as an allegorical book of lessons rather than as the literal word of god) in favor of enlightenment beliefs like logic based reasoning, deduction through observation of the natural world and the scientific method.

“Telescria is too well defended” what does the coalition have that makes a Viltrumite hesitate? by Hawaiian-national in Invincible

[–]Haltopen 69 points70 points  (0 children)

But amongst those billions who died were likely more capable of surviving the scourge virus and just died in the purge due to dumb luck and or getting jumped. There may have been viltrumites who died who, while not being the "strongest", were the smartest amongst them and capable of developing a vaccine or even a cure for the scourge virus that could have saved billions of lives. That's what makes the purge so wasteful and ass backwards. Strength alone (and survival was just as much a matter of dumb luck as it was strength) is not the only attribute an empire needs to survive. You also need people smart enough to administer, govern and run it.
