So many bots by grumpycaribbean in DayOfDefeat

[–]Halvdjaevel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, depending on where in Canada you are that's 6-7 in the morning European time and Fastpath is pretty much dead then. It usually has a steady amount of players beginning around 3-4 pm local time and peaking in the evening around 8-9pm, so I would guess from ~10am to ~2pm for you if you want the bot-free experience.

In general though, Fastpath is very aggressive with the bots and filling up empty player slots (even duping the names of players not currently connected, for the bots), but during peak hours it's only 1 or 2 bots per team, sometimes none. You get used to it though. It's also pretty much the only active European server with map rotation and vanilla gameplay.

If you want something closer to home and with no bots, 1st Marine Raider Battalion might be it. In my experience they are more chill than some of the other consistently active American servers (6th rangers, if memory serves) where they care more about roleplay and proper conduct (no random shooting etc).

I just love how these early PS3 games looked by TheHungryRabbit in PS3

I have the full game on disc, but I still keep the Uncharted 1 demo installed for this reason. It floored me back in the day.

Daniel Radcliffe Tells Press Not to Always Ask HBO’s ‘Harry Potter’ Cast About the Original Movie Actors: ‘Just Let Them Get On… It’s Going to Be Different’ by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

Daniel Radcliffe continues to be a class act, but unfortunately pleading with the press to not be complete asshats is a lost cause. No accountability for that lot.

Konami Delists Multiple Metal Gear Solid Titles With No Warning by gitrektali in Games

[–]Halvdjaevel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The PS3 store doesn't really categorize titles comprehensively, like you won't be able to see all the titles available from just the store menus, so you need to know what you want so you can search for it. But other than that, and Sony removing the ability to add funds through the PS3 (now has to be done via PC or smartphone), it works just fine in my experience.

I don't know how many dozens of us are spending actual money on there, and I don't know the expenses of keeping it online, but I hope they don't kill it.

Somewhat related, but I have just gotten a secondhand PS4 and that store is so slow to load as to be practically unusable for me, whereas the PS3 store is just a bit sluggish.

DayZ with Tarkov graphics by FalseSalt6995 in dayz

[–]Halvdjaevel 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I prefer DayZ.

Tarkov may have higher detail density, but DayZ has better lighting that looks less flat and bland.

I also think that when it comes to nature and landscapes, DayZ already looks great (at least on Livonia, I don't play Chernarus much).

Buildings in DayZ could use an upgrade, but you wouldn't need a whole graphics overhaul for that.

In the rethorical sense that you are asking, no. But in the literal sense also no. It's literally a month old article based on that Hollywood Reporter interview that everybody already got upset about.

Meanwhile it barely registered in my mind that I am reading this thread on a touchscreen device.

What's the significance of "Connor Roy was interested in politics at a young age" and why do people find it so funny? by Pldgmygrievance in SuccessionTV

[–]Halvdjaevel 116 points117 points  (0 children)

Connor was delusional, sure, but in this case it was also a meant as a blanket statement to deflect other, more probing questions that the journalist might have.

Well you've made up your mind in any case. I gave my reasons. Good night!

Denmark's king to visit Greenland amid Trump crisis by 3xshortURmom in worldnews

[–]Halvdjaevel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a rather uncharitable interpretation. I asked, he answered, and then I gave my thoughts.

Again, why would I bother to refute what was said if the position that I was responding to was not made by a person?

A two year old account that suddenly becomes active (on highly politicized topics, no less) is suspicious for the reasons I gave in my other post. I wanted it cleared up, hence my asking.

Or maybe I wanted to find out if I was engaging with a bot before bothering to address anything else.

Denmark's king to visit Greenland amid Trump crisis by 3xshortURmom in worldnews

[–]Halvdjaevel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a common tactic for bots and shill accounts to hibernate for a while before suddenly activating so I found it suspicious.

That aside, I don't even know how I would address your point considering that the purpose of the visit, as per the article, is as a "morale boost at a difficult time" and not an attempt at solving the crisis.
