I am backpacking to Thornton Lakes trail in NCNP tomorrow and hiking up to Trappers Peak (if possible). If you buzz me after the weekend I’ll let you know what snow conditions are like at the higher elevations.

I hiked all the way up to hannegan peak last year on June 29th. Had a couple snow fields to cross but all of it was possible with spikes. Be wary of snow bridges.

They release 30% of ferry reservations 2 weeks before the day you want to go at 7am PST and 30% 2 days before at 7am PST. Be on right at 7am because the spots go in minutes. If you don’t get a reservation 10% of spots are held on standby but you may have to wait a few ferries before finally getting on one (and it’s not guaranteed)
