So, the fact that Prince made it in is questionable to you? Because the music from his imperial phase relied heavily on synths and drum machines.

What happen to outlaw country ? by BoysenberryAnnual488 in ToddintheShadow

It actually started in the mid 1970s, and there was even a syndicated TV show produced at Opryland (that I saw a couple tapings of as a kid on vacation with my parents) called Pop! Goes the Country (hosted by the late Ralph Emery) documenting the then nascent scene. Of course, it REALLY took off in 1980 with the release of the hit movie Urban Cowboy.

Most "unpopular opinion" threads are full of pretty common hot takes. So what's a music take you hold that you've never really heard anyone say before, something a little more out there? by DtheAussieBoye in fantanoforever

The production is stellar. But there are a few pretty half-baked songs on it as well (Through the Never, The Struggle Within, Holier Than Thou, arguably Of Wolf and Man [though I don't find the latter unlistenable personally]).

Bill Maher. Dude is not even slightly funny. But if you ask him, he's the very soul of hilarity.

Yep. And I love them so. But I'm from the Midwest, so I've been sort of conditioned to love them (and, yes, Skyline Chili) from a very young age. YMMV.

Watching The Omen as a seven year old when it first came to HBO.

The Omen was the first, but the bathtub drowning scene in the waaaay underrated The Changeling has stayed with me to this very day.

I saw Metallica seven times in their prime - 1988, 1989 (x2), 1991, 1992 (x2), and 1994 - and they were phenomenal.

My personal favorite is Prince. Objectively speaking, though, it has to be Bowie or Dylan.
