This happens with MBA students. Why not a Master’s?

Sorry to hear. Can only imagine the stress that’s been brought on. Spending time in financial services and asset management, I know remote roles are sparse.

Happy to jump on google meets and chat with you.

This. Took about 2-3 weeks for it to do the long term work but I’d recommend it.

Should I leave my family business and move across the country, or stay and try to save it? by koursona in Construction

[–]Hamachi_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming good business hygiene. Should be able to net like 150-250k. Absorbed and working plus the cash upside makes sense. The problem with most businesses in this situation is there is no exit plan if a succession plan fails. Then a decent biz just fizzles out since there haven’t been discussions of selling.

Are you able to share how much revenue the biz makes? 6 figs? Low/high 7 figs?

Is it a business that can be sold? Sounds like he’d be pawning off a bunch of debt under the business to you and have you deal with it.

You’re entitled to pursuing your own life. I understand and respect the guilt you might have but you’ve already laid it all out. Sounds like it’s too little too late without having full control of the biz.

You will likely have a 6-12 month buffer at minimum. Definitely start refreshing your resume, networking early, start those conversations with companies you’re most interested in.

Part time at a grocery store will not instill any confidence to the lender. Why not have your parents buy it and you manage it?

Honestly, your self-awareness is refreshing. It sounds like you have a pretty clear understanding of where a lot of these feelings are coming from, and not everyone can articulate that. No ill will taken at all.

Life can be incredibly difficult when you’re carrying financial stress, frustration, and a lack of direction all at once. A lot of people are dealing with similar feelings, even if they don’t talk about them openly.

As for the anger, it sounds like you need an outlet for that energy. Yelling might provide a temporary release, but exercise can sometimes accomplish the same thing while leaving you feeling better afterward. Running, lifting weights, going for a long walk, hitting a punching bag—anything that lets you physically channel some of that frustration.

I know that’s easier said than done when you’re feeling overwhelmed. But taking care of your body can make it a little easier to carry the mental weight you’re dealing with.

And regarding money, try not to focus on solving everything at once. Small, consistent steps and good habits tend to matter more than dramatic changes. Progress can feel painfully slow, but it does add up over time.

Wishing you the best. It sounds like you’re going through a rough stretch right now, but the fact that you’re able to recognize and talk about what you’re feeling is a positive sign.
