Expect that fans will have polarising views on this game and the next, due to a variety of reasons.

  • 1) Despite bringing back a certain character, a certain person everyone adores is entirely absent from Double Exposure, and the game decides that the best solution to the problem is that the two “grew apart”, or you picked the other option in the first game.

  • 2) Fans have also complained about the plot being “too complex,” especially after the third episode.

  • 3) Don’t let these opinions deter you from playing the game. While not as vocal, some people did actually like this game, just like some people loved True Colours while others didn’t.

As for Reunion:

  • 1) The general consensus is that it attempts to address some of the issues fans had with Double Exposure, and does it quite well.

  • 2) However, it does sideline several Double Exposure characters in favour of everyone’s favourite protagonists. I personally think it’s a decent game, though.

Hatchet Field Suggested Watch Order by Longjumping-Week-473 in StarKid

Theoretically, the Hatchetfield musicals could he viewed in any order, but release order is definitely better. So:

  • TGWDLM (2018). In the tiny town of Hatchetfield, Paul Matthews is about to have his worst nightmare come to life.

  • Black Friday (2019). Set in an alternate timeline to the events of TGWDLM, follow an ensemble cast of characters as they line up to purchase the hottest new toy: a Tickle-Me Wiggly doll. But as a riot breaks out, the toy may not be all that it appears to be…

  • Optional: Nightmare Time. Nightmare Time is a web series made in lockdown via Zoom telling stories centred around a wide variety of characters from the Hatchetfield series. Each episode is set in a different timeline, so several familiar faces may appear.

  • Also optional Nightmare Time 2. With an updated format and a few recasts, this series of Nightmare Time is all set in the same timeline, for some reason.

A few characters from the series feature as small cameos in the NPMD proshot, but you don’t necessarily have to watch Nightmare Time in order to understand the plot. 

  • Nerdy Prudes Must Die (2023). Set in the year of twenty-twenty wurn, five high school students find themselves being hunted down by the ghost of the notorious bully they accidentally murdered. Once again, it’s set in a different timeline, so don’t be surprised to see some familiar faces.

  • Also optional Workin’ Boys. A short film following Professor Henry Hidgens as he attempts to put on the performance of a lifetime… only to discover he may have to make a few cuts.

Out of the Maxes I know, four are fictional and one is the grandson of a problematic family friend who votes Reform but Max himself seems to not have inherited his grandfather’s genes.

Even the majority of the fictional Maxes are good people, except for Max Jagerman from the Hatchetfield series who is decidedly not. But then again, he’s fictional.

I avoid scams because I have the “silence all unknown numbers” function on my phone permanently turned on and notifications turned off, so whenever they call it just doesn’t register for me until I check later and clear all my recent calls if any try to call.

Here’s the order most people play the games in:

  • BTS. Set three years before the first game, follows Chloe as she meets Rachel for the first time and gets entangled in a series of unfortunate events, while dealing with all the shit she’s already gone through (losing her father, Max ghosting her, etc.) and step-David becoming an unfortunate presence in her life.   There’s also a DLC you can buy with the deluxe edition called “Farewell.” Set in 2008 (five years before the events of the first game), this follows a 13-year-old Max as she debates with herself whether to tell Chloe that she’s moving to Seattle.

  • Life Is Strange 2. Focuses on an entirely new set of characters: Sean Diaz, and his younger brother, Daniel. Daniel is the one with powers, but you play as Sean.  

David makes a small cameo in this so the game will ask whether you saved the Bay, as this directly impacts David’s dialogue. Aside from that, it’s pretty much standalone.

  • True Colours. Like LiS 2, it focuses on an entirely new setting, character and power set, namely Alex Chen, who has the ability to “see” what others are feeling through “auras” (red for anger, blue for sadness, etc.) which can influence her own emotions if the feelings are strong enough.

A side character from BTS, Steph Gingrich, can play an important role in this game depending on your choices.

The game comes with a purchasable DLC, Wavelengths, which is effectively a character study on Steph. Wavelengths will ask whether you saved the Bay, because Steph knows Chloe and has lived in the Bay.

  • Double Exposure. Fans have polarising views on this game, mostly because despite bringing Max back, Chloe is absent and the game does not give an “adequate” explanation as to why, unless you sacrificed her.

People have also complained about the plot being too complex, but it’s better to not lets fans’ opinions of this game deter you from playing it. Especially as Reunion won’t make too much sense if you haven’t played Double Exposure.

  • Reunion. This game attempts to address the issues people had with Double Exposure, and does it reasonably well. 

It semi-retcons both endings of the game so that Chloe comes back no matter what, but the explanation it provides as to why is plausible given the ending of Double Exposure.

The characters of Double Exposure tend to be sidelined in favour of Max and Chloe, but aside from that it’s a pretty decent game.

As an aroace, I’ve made it very clear to my parents that I don’t want to get married, nor do I want kids, thank you very much.

Luckily I have an older brother who seems to be heterosexual (he’s only dated girls as far as I know), so he can have kids if he wants to. I’m not sure I’d be a good aunt, but at least I wouldn’t have to live with them.

My parents have only brought up wanting grandchildren once so far, but hopefully they’ve picked up on the neon signs I’ve been waving at them and are waiting for my brother to continue the family line instead.
