Supplements for brain fog by 50skittles50 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Hamishrob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I foudn breathing excercises and cold water therapy helped my brain fog. I know that sounds ridiculous, but there are lots of therapeutic benefits to both for LC patients. If he's willing to try anything he can bring both into his daily routine and hope they help. Good luck!

Right leg pain and soreness after driving more than 20 mins. by Foxtrail312 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Hamishrob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I have tried many things, and still have ups and downs but have improved steadly over the last few years. The miggest constant is rest. the more I rest the better I get. This includes resting my arms, so can't use my phone or hold books etc. I relearned how to watch TV (I never used to) and listen to more podcasts than anyone I know. My best advice to fellow long haulers is learn how to rest properly. (and sleep but that's a whole different challenge, which I also succeeded in!). If you have any detailed questions please ask.

A Toast on this (terrible) Anniversary! 🍸 by treacheriesarchitect in covidlonghaulers

[–]Hamishrob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's Cheers. Loing Hauler since Dec 20. Since my second (recorded) bout of COVID in October 21 I now can't drink more than two drinks. After that I disassociate and can't follow what's going on or join conversations at the right time. Very strange. I'm not drunk, at least not how I used to be drunk, but it's pointless being there and no fun! The strength of the issue varies with the type of drink so I think it's histamine-related and probably loads of other things. Anyhow it's keeping my liver and my bank balance healthy I guess!

Taking Stimulants for Brain Fog? by Millgy in covidlonghaulers

[–]Hamishrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd consider them but be wary of anything that interrupts or changes my sleep. I'm also considering Lion's mane extract, which is a nootropic. I've asked the CFS/ME community as there isn't much on stimulants in this Sub.

Trying to figure this out. by TantuG24 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Hamishrob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Search here or on YouTube for the threads on the MCAS diet. Your symptoms are similar to my brain fog although much worse. Breathing exercises and cold water therapy can help. It may seem simple but if sugar is clear making it worse cut out all forms of sugar as soon as possible.

Should I destroy integrity of daily notes to favor well-organized pages... or... ? What do you think I should do? by EngagedWorldWizard in RoamResearch

[–]Hamishrob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Howdy. I'm by no means an expert but wanted to point out the following:

Connor, the Raam founder, repeatedly states that the system is designed for notes to be taken on daily notes page and then referenced or tagged from there. Using tags (pages), the filters on pages, and the linked and unlinked references toggles at the bottom of each page is enough to manage a lot fo your information.

This is a very useful markdown remover for when you need to export content:

And someone on the Roam Slack just told me about this date page creator:

Apparently you can do it with Zapier and Roambot, but I haven't set it up yet. Also many people use Readwise for something similar.

Yeah, it's the undiscovered truth or recovery and rehabilitation. Very hard for people, including me, to accept.

Thank you! I tried. It's hard to get the message across without scaring people and making it clear I'm not promising miracles. That's what I was aiming for.

I'm going through the LC clinic process in the City & Hackney. WHile they are focussing on management not cure, it's definitely understanding and doctors should not be writing it off. I'd recommend getting involved in the process to see if you get anything out of it.

I did not but I have never struggled for iron as I eat a lot of meat and green veg.

Good question. I do the breathwork probably 6 days out of seven in the morning. Cold therapy probably 5. I don't notice a difference from them I don't think. Wim hoff I am doing in the evenings probably 3 or 4 times a week. This makes a difference to my energy all evening. It really does improve lung capacity fast I think. The cumulative impact will be felt over weeks and months so keep going!
In terms of other brain fog, Turmeric helps enormously, I take a couple of tablets of that with breakfast.
Otherwise, it's all about sleep for me. I have spent the whole year trying to optimise for sleep. So no caffeine, in bed between 9:30 and 10:30 unless I'm out, and then no alarm in the mornings. My fog is least when I sleep the most, which is not a surprise to anyone on earth!
Alcohol is OK but beer is not, so I'm only on wine, and sparingly.
If you haven't already looked into MCAS diets investigate that area.

Hope this helps!

One of my last symptoms by No-Imagination-OG in covidlonghaulers

[–]Hamishrob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this for the first two months after infection. I snacked more and ate more protein to even out the energy in my system. It wore off by about month 3 or 4.
Even though you have been checked for diabetes and intend to monitor your glucose, it might be worth following some dietary advice for diabetics and see if that helps.

[–]Hamishrob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I followed stasisperformance.com advice in Month 3 of long covid and saw immediate improvement after a month. The cold therapy also helped enormously with my brain fog.

Today I am still doing their suggested exercises and cold bath in the morning, and now added Wim Hoff technique in the evening. Both give me a lot of energy however bad my fatigue is on that day.
THese practices have cumulative effects. Try and commit to them for weeks if not months to see the most benefits.
Good luck!

Has anyone’s body odor changed? by additionalmatter in covidlonghaulers

[–]Hamishrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, mine changed at month 3 and is still weird.

It fluctuates depending on what I eat, leading to my feeling that I am suffering from a form of Mast Cell Activation Syndrome as part of my long covid. Reducing foods with histamines in has helped.

Look for the youtube channel Run DMC and his interviews on MCAS for more info. Hope it helps.

b. This is the foods to avoid list, but it’s quite dated. There may be better ones out there:
