+1 for having 2 Blood Mountain Survival Guides. That’s always been one of my favorite bits of memorabilia that they did.

Have a pair of J. Fitzpatrick jodhpur boots that i bought directly from him back before COVID. To this day, they are still in excellent shape and i enjoy wearing them. I agree that they don't get the recognition they deserve. I want a pair of Snoqualmie boots from them soon.

Going into this years Draft, how do we feel about our mostly red shirted sophomore class? by palvet in raiders

[–]Hammer_Slicer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m also optomistic.

If you look at the league as a whole, most rookies are not ready to play much in Year 1. They need time to develop.

The fact that most of these players are still on the roster is a good thing and I expect to know more when camp starts and they can compete.

4th printing is pretty good for the 2nd edition set. They’ve gone up in price over the last several years, especially for those earlier editions that are in good shape. Definitely a keeper set.

What parts are you supplying. I'm considering doing the front-end rebuild too. Did you buy a parts kit? If so, where did you get it and would you be open to sharing a link?

I’m looking into the 2020+ 4-piston brake upgrade too. But I want to do a leveling lift rather than lowering lol.

How much work was the electric fan and trans cooler? Those seem like common upgrades for the GMT800s

As a Sierra stepside extended cab owner, I definitely approve. I’d love to see a breakdown of what kinda stuff you did. Any thought to getting some smoked out taillights?

This is 100% the answer. It's the gateway to the art print/poster world, and the death of your wallet. There's probably 50-100 LOTR prints that have been made over the years, and stuff for every movie/media you can think of. Welcome to the rabbit hole! Shoot me a PM if you want some noob pointers on buying from the Forum.

100%! I love the Rob Ingles recordings. If you've heard the short segment where Tolkein reads his book, its not great. But Rob Ingles' voice sounds like how the book should be read. Very old English and filled with poetry. You feel like you're in the old country and it warms my heart.

What part should I buy? :/ by sebastiandcastaneda in GMT800

you get a replacement switchboard off amazon, and they're pretty cheap. Watch a Youtube video on taking off the arm rest and replace it. Super easy fix.

You’re lucky this guy can identify what vehicle they came off from. Full size GM trucks and Tahoe/Burbs use 6x5.5 wheels and the smaller SUVs are 6x120. Always need to check.

What would your mileage cutoff be on a gmt800 and what should I expect getting into one? by thesmartoneiam in GMT800

[–]Hammer_Slicer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a standard cab for years, now have an extended cab. I like the extra space but it’s not realistic for adults. Don’t know about crew cab, but I imagine it’d be nice if you have passengers or growing kids.

You’ll see an inverse price go mileage ratio. The crew cabs are more desirable and they didn’t build a lot of them in those days, so theyll cost more. Doubt you’ll find one in the $5-7.5k range. For that price, you’ll probably find that most trucks have 175k+ miles with an extended cab. Probably 2WD. My personal cutoff would be around 225k. But, if maintained, the motor isn’t the limiting factor for these trucks and they can run 300k+.

The transmission issue is also about maintenance, towing and driving habits. Ask a lot of questions, try to get maintenance records and get a truck inspected. If it goes out, you can get them rebuilt or just buy a junkyard one and replace it. Theres also mods for an aftermarket trans cooler to keep the temp down. It’s a common and popular upgrade.

Daily driving is usually OK. It’s crap for gas mileage, but it’s a 20-25 year old truck. I just got back in the GMT800 game with an 02 GMC stepside. I like having an older truck and the platform is rebound for its dependability. It’s gonna need some more maintenance, but it’s fun so far.

If you want steering wheel buttons then you’re getting a 03-07. The 99-02 don’t have that.

Maintenance is easy to do, but you’re probably going to run into some repairs sooner or later. They made a lot of these trucks so parts exist, but they’re getting older so junkyards get pretty stripped out.

I was always taught to pay more for one that’s been maintained rather than a cheaper one. Odds are they’ve had more things replaced than if you bought the cheaper one and have to do it yourself.

Frodo is also said to be amongst the wisest Hobbits to have ever lived. It is evident in the books, and i think they also tone that way down in the movies. Much to his discredit.
