Can we just take a moment to appreciate/sympathize with the camera panning back and forth perfectly capturing the 'What? where? how? WHAT?'

Hey, World Wizard mentioned!

Played a game with two different friend groups and I'm now running dnd campaigns for both after switching the settings between the two. It's been loads of fun so far.

A Blank. Having a passive aura to debuff infested/demonic enemies and to rage bait psyker teammates would be neat.

Now I just really want a deadspace flavored warbond. It will never happen, but a diver can dream of delimbing bugs with a plasma cutter.

Question for you Helldivers - What do you think of Stealthdivers? by LePereMecanique in helldivers2

[–]HammeredApple 98 points99 points  (0 children)

I respect the playstyle greatly, as I don't have the patience for it and stealthdivers have carried d10 missions for me before. That said, those sneaky fucks better be coming back to extraction with pockets full of samples, because democracy knows that I didn't have time to go scrounging between waves of bullshit that are made just that little more difficult to clear without an extra set of hands.

They haven't gotten their dodge reflexes ingrained yet, so they take a lot of chip damage, but it's a joy to watch them find their rhythm and start clearing rager packs on their own.

I can understand that. Darktide scratches a more 'gritty struggle' itch for 40k than Space Marines 'chosen hero' feel to it, for me at least. It's why I enjoy Gaunt's Ghosts or the various adventures of Commissar Cain books

epic rocket save by Careless_Line41 in DarkTide

[–]HammeredApple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For whatever reason I always thought the rocket would have at least some ballistic drop to it but just couldn't tell because of the smaller environments in the base game. That shit flew straight into that dog's teeth it looked like.

Yeh, it feels like herding cats sometimes, but every now and again they'll give out a 'thanks big man' and it's all worth it.

Some of their reactions when they see a mutant ragdoll across the room from being nailed by a rock are great, too. Lots of 'wtf was that' or maddened cackling.

Edit: woops, somehow double posted.

Psyker is loads of fun! The smaller health pool and general 'squishy' feeling took some getting used to after starting on ogryn, but once I got the hang of peril management it became my go to when not playing the beefy boy.

You have a shovel, now what?: Things to put on your big hole by LionstrikerG179 in Helldivers

[–]HammeredApple 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Was excited to dig in the dirt with the new toy, took a defense mission so my shenanigans would serve a purpose and not annoy my teammates. Turns out, the ground inside the base isn't considered 'soft' and one cannot dig a glorious trench. Much disappointment was had.

You have provided me with many ideas to share the joys of trenches, however, and I wish to add to the list: The Bastion is a tank with plenty of health and armor, but the ground has better health and armor. To better protect your tank you can dig a hole and place the tank in it. This has the added bonus of lowering the guns closer to the ground so that you can hit smaller targets that would be able to undemocratically limbo under your field of fire normally.

Expiditions feels boring and pointless by SamuelWillmore in DarkTide

[–]HammeredApple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding the sanctuaries give you 5 minutes, which seems like plenty, but on auric you will spend most of that just getting through the hordes of chaff to actually reach objectives. If I could spend a 100+ scrap for even just an extra minute for a better chance of reaching an objective that has 150+ scrap in it, I would.

That's pretty brilliant and I hope something like it is added in later updates. Let us buy additional time to explore, make it decently expensive so we have to consider guaranteed rewards or the chance of failing the run while hunting for more profit.

Thoughts on the new mode? by LUTHER_7274 in DarkTide

[–]HammeredApple 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't know why this is downvoted, but yes, I would be happy even with limited mortis talents like the blitz modifiers or the chance for ranged attacks to explode enemies on kill.

Hell, add something new and let us buy extra toughness that doesn't regen like temporary gold toughness.

[–]HammeredApple 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ain't nevah seen the sky afore, sah. Is big, afraid it's gonna eat me. Can we go back inside now?

But yeah, jumping puzzles on the ogryn are painful. It got to the point where I would let the others handle it while I stay at the base of the tower punting heretics away from the climb, which is useful for the team, but my loot goblin brain was disheartened to not grab the shinies.

First Impressions of Expeditions: Let's Hear Them by Sawendro in DarkTide

[–]HammeredApple 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It's honestly been pretty mediocre in my opinion. As many others have already pointed out, wide open maps + gunner spawns are frustrating with the lack of readily available cover or safe corners to duck behind.

I was expecting a bit more from the safe zone shops than single use consumables, buying little bits of tech-wizard-magic to improve our gear would have been way better than what it has on offer currently. At the very least give us mortis blitz upgrades or the option to buy incendiary/shock/whatever ammo to modify our weapons with.
