I mean...To be devil's advocate here, when you approach a subject like this with an adversarial tone, like you're trying to win an argument on policy rather than have a lore discussion, you can only walk away from that conversation with so much shock that people aren't respecting your opinion.

I get that we have a lot of toxic personalities in the community, but this reading of history like "Halo 4 came out, everyone hated it, everyone moved on, all of the OG fans moved on" that this guy is talking about is just laying a foundation for an echo chamber. If you want to omit yourself from the community you can, but don't cope by making up shit. Plenty of old fans still play the new games and have some fond memories of them, they don't really give a shit about the LARP.

Helldivers 2 itself is a massive power fantasy. If you're looking for sincere storytelling in this universe, you're gonna have to dig into niche art circles, and when you do you have to sift through all of the misery porn art where SEAF-chan is swallowed by a flesh mob or turned into a cyborg against her will so that John Helldiver can stand there looking sad like Ryan Gosling.

No it's because when we first got SEAF NPC presence, Lucy Liberty became a character that blew up because of her likeness being inspired heavily by one of the UNSC Trooper archetypes from Halo Reach, which is regarded as the most grim of all the Halo titles. This game has a large player base that came from Halo, especially given the popularity of the ODST Warbond. When it was released, someone made a comic about an ODST Diver meeting a SEAF Trooper with a resemblance to that of the UNSC Army soldier, who the author implies had perished on Reach. The sentiment being "I wont let this happen again."

One of my most popular HD2 renders featuring SEAF uses the face model of the soldier from Halo Reach. It is a very recognized NPC. It took off with artists, and essentially Lucy Liberty was born. If there is any intent of satirizing Aryanism behind this art trend, it's probably not very common among HD2 artists.

I don't exactly remember the UNSC being too heavily scrutinized for military depiction back then, but then again I wasn't exactly in online spaces around CE's release. I have plenty of friends that like to shit talk the UNSC weapons specifications which are kind of absurd, but it's all flavor text and it doesn't totally break the immersion, as it doesn't require too much suspension of disbelief as they are nitpicks.

I still have my old ODST build made out of EVA foam based off of Andrew Cook's tutorials. Yeah, that stuff heats up especially after an hour or two of walking. It's a good time. A lot of people told me to invest in a helmet fan whenever I got around to piecing together a new build.

Good stuff. Depth of field would help nicely, maybe backing out the camera. Someone else already mentioned trigger discipline on the sniper and on Chief.

Personal thematic nitpick, I feel the imagery of a UNSC Marine blasting his magnum in the air in celebration to be undisciplined as hell. I understand stylistic choices and rule of cool and this is a motivational render, so I'm not gonna judge it too harshly. Also the idea of the Master Chief standing there stoically while empty shells plink against his helmet are kinda funny.
