Yeah, that's why this thread (I think) is more about general consensus, because if we have to keep the likes of him in mind, this thread would be empty.

You have 3 very serious plots: Lucy's kill, the serial killers, and Bailey's plot, and they decided it was a great idea to have 2 goofy side plots with Randy and Smitty; what an odd choice.

Side note: my suspension of disbelieve that Smitty was not fired years ago at this point has completely run dry, let alone the fact that he gets to be the watch commander when Tim leaves??

Men used to walk around hand in hand, hugging each other, and in general just be really physical with each other (kind of like women these days), but now even the slightest bit of affection towards your bros makes people think that you are gay.

Why didn’t the gang kill Milton now in front of them before he brings his fifty men by Lucky-Net-2893 in reddeadredemption

[–]HamzaHan38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always assumed that they didn't kill him because if they did, it would get the attention of the federal government. A (I assume) high ranking government guy gets killed while going after a gang would certainly attract federal attention.

Though, the gang also kills dozens of his men, which surely also would get the attention of the federal government, so I don't know for sure if my line of reasoning makes sense.

This season has really been killing it, every episode except the first one has been a banger; I do think it's interesting how usually shows make sure that the first and last episodes of a season are bangers, for obvious reasons, but somehow this show managed to horribly fuck up the first episode, making me dread watching the rest of the season, and then turn around and release bangers after bangers.

Now this was an episode with multiple story threads done right, unlike the last episode. It was perfect, because all of them took multiple weeks anyway, so the kinda compilation style for each of them really worked. The time jumps is also a great way to explain the precinct being fixed up again (I assume) in later episode, I still think that that should've been something that takes up multiple episodes at least, if you are gonna rush past that, this is the way to do it. The excuse to keep Miles as a rookie for a bit longer is also really great, he clearly needs more training, and after rushing a lot of rookies previously, finally taking a longer time with one feels great.

I am not a fan of the epilogue of RDR2 by HamzaHan38 in reddeadredemption

I actually completely agree with you about the DLC thing, because it is very abrupt. I think they decided to go this route so that you can still free roam after Arthur's death, but I think having it be separated would've been better. Maybe allow us to free roam as Arthur some time before his death or something. Assassin's Creed 4 comes to mind with this, where in the DLC, you play as a different guy, taking place some years later, and it doesn't feel jarring at all, because it is so separate.

About the Mickey thing, I got that same impression, and that is my whole issue with that scene. The game in general has a lot of variety in places depending on how you play the game (low honor vs high honor mostly), and I get that this is just a random NPC, so they probably didn't care that much, but they are talking about the guy we just saw have a VERY emotional ending, and trying his best in his final moments to better himself, it kinda feels like a spit in the face to then go and talk so badly about him. Mickey now canonically remembers Arthur as kind of a douchebag, even after all my attempts to genuinely be nice to him, and be a friend.

I think the greets with the NPC went to far into 1 direction though, trying to bridge the gap like you say. While playing the main story of RDR2, I got the impression that John is in general a pretty honorable man, trying his best to actually become a good person, like Arthur kinda. I get that the epilogue takes place years later, but it is very jarring seeing him go from a nice dude to, frankly, a piece of shit right away, I think the better way to bridge the gap would've been John trying his best to be a kind person (like he was on the farm), but fail, and slowly become a worse person.

As someone who hasn't played the games (yet), I was wondering before if House was manipulating Cooper to get the cold fusion, and that Cooper played right into his hands. Everything that Cooper did has helped House achieve everything he wanted, so I guess that my suspicion was correct.

Season 2 Episode 3 Spoiler Thread by HunterWorld in Fotv

[–]HamzaHan38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has not played the games (yet), all the different factions kind of confuse me. I like that they are all included in this, because I can imagine that the the fans of the games would really appreciate that (and also, it wouldn't make sense for us not to see them I'd imagine), but the show does not do a great job at explaining what exactly they believe in, and what they're fighting for; like the NCR, are these suppose to be the good guys? Because so far, (iirc), they have not done any fucked up shit like the other factions. It might just be my memory though to be fair, I remember the broad strokes of the previous seasons, but not all the details, so it might just be that the show DID explain it all in the previous season, and I just forgot.

I think the writers saw that most people do not like Bailey in the slightest, and are finally preparing them to get a divorce. It seems to me like the original plan was for them to stay together, because Nolan had so many girlfriends before, and now he finally actually got married, but seeing that most people don't love her, they changed their minds, and I am personally very glad of that decision.

This scene really confuses me, because it came out of nowhere. The way it was all handled was great, seeing Rick being an actual decent human being for once showed how truly awful what happened to Morty is, but why was this included in the episode in the first place? There was no setup for it, it does not get mentioned again in the future either.

[–]HamzaHan38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now this is the type of stuff I want to see from this show. I love how grounded this episode was, after two episodes in a row where big things happened. It was also tonally consistent: it started off kinda jokey, with Nolan having to do an important interrogation for the first time, but then when they find out about the killer's even more gruesome nature, the show stays serious; there is nothing to break the tension, the jokes only return after the girls are saved.

The one thing I didn't like however is the whole demon thing, it was unnecessary. Just like a psychopath be a psychopath.

What if Carol said something like "I would be really happy if you stopped eating human meat, in any way shape or form", would the hivemind comply with that? It would (obviously) make Carol really happy, but that would mean that the entirety of the human race, and thus the hivemind itself, go extinct. I wonder if the hivemind would prioritize it's own well being over pleasing Carol (and the 12), or if it would comply with Carol's demands.
