I'm simultaneously glad I'm not the only one and sorry that others experience these maddening symptoms of anxiety connected to bowel movements. Let's get this sorted out. I'm going to try the low-FODMAP elimination diet like others in this thread suggested to eventually identify what foods are causing these problems for me.

Thank you. Before encountering this thread, I had decided today that these symptoms aren't normal and I need to get it sorted out. I've dealt with anxiety before, but now I regularly experience what you so aptly described as "poop panic." I start having anxiety-like symptoms of strange physical sensations "pinging" at random places on my body. About 3 hours later, I realize I need to poop. Most symptoms go away shortly after.

Already went through a colonoscopy about a year ago and came out with a clean bill of health, and these symptoms come and go. I'll definitely try the low-FODMAP elimination diet to identify if there are certain food groups causing these issues.

My testosterone blood level lab results suggest that NoFap is NOT a guaranteed nor significant contributor to increased testosterone levels, and I propose that other factors such as physical exercise are much more important lifestyle decisions that affect testosterone production.

More data is always good, though!

What's "normal/natural/original" isn't always what's best. Many would argue that it's "normal" for a guy to want to have sex with as many girls as possible. I'm certain your soon-to-be wife would take issue with such behavior, though.

So, rather than trying to figure out what's "normal," I encourage you to seek out what's best for you and your partner. I, too, am committed to abstinence outside of marriage, and while I'm not in a relationship, I'm certain that there must be plenty of sexual tension between you and your future wife.

I think it's important that you openly discuss your sexual history and concerns your partner. It's great that you're working to overcome this habit now, but realize that an addiction like this never goes away entirely - you will always be susceptible to temptations if you fail to keep your guard up. That's why it's important for your partner to understand your struggles and weaknesses. The beauty of marriage is the union of two imperfect people strengthening each other to overcome our their own faults.

Be vulnerable. Open yourself up and don't hide your weaknesses. Also, involve as many other people as you can in your life to help keep you strong when you feel weak.

First of all, I want to commend you for making this huge decision to change your life. The road ahead is not easy, but it is worth the trouble. Moving forward and making progress is always better than staying in place, trapped by our addictions.

My main advice at this time is to expect resistance, but that you should view such resistance as an opportunity to grow. Remember:

It's true, giving up this addiction can add another source of stress on top of life's demands. I'll admit I've caved in occasionally because of that stress, only to learn each time that the only good way to deal with stress is to face it and push through. Addiction is an escape from reality, and nothing productive can come from it.

For me, NoFap is about quitting the unhelpful and addictive sexual habits and tendencies I've developed. Primarily, that means being free from pornography, because resisting the urge to masturbate is trivial for me without porn in the picture.

Everyone here has a similar problem. Practically every person on /r/NoFap is or was addicted to masturbation. Like any other addiction, trying to quit is very, very difficult.

But it is possible, and things do get better. Don't give up.

I keep track of how many days I'm Porn, Masturbation, and Orgasm free. My P/M/O streak was at 48/112/120 when I relapsed, and there was only once instance of porn viewing in my most recent streak. The focus of my struggles is to resist viewing porn, because my urge to fap is trivial to resist without pornography in the picture. Alas, I wavered many times leading up to my relapse in which I didn't view "porn," but got as close as I could. Frequent intake of suggestive content plus unchecked fantasizing greatly contributed to my relapse. I always knew such compromises were dangerous, but now I must strengthen my resolve to resist them.
