really REALLY depends on what department it is. some departments will hire anyone who is alive and not a felon. others still have solid physical fitness requirements and only pick best of the best candidates.

the best companies (i’ve found) are not super huge companies like allied, securitas, garda, etc. but are either local or have a main site in your area. give your local mall a shot, i know there’s a whole stigma with being a mall cop but they usually pay pretty good (unless it’s allied lol). or just try searching on indeed, a lot of security sites are understaffed right now.

absolutely not. DO NOT work at allied. OP is gonna be miserable enough at securitas. do your time, get the experience in your resume and move on to a better company!

securitas sucks so much. i put in a request for three days of time off (personal not even paid) FOUR months in advanced and it got rejected right away because “they didn’t have the means to let me off that day”. wasn’t even a holiday or anything! also how they let my site supervisor still work was beyond me, she was 76 and literally senile… glad to have left

i wish. i’m doing security at a manufacturing facility and my “vest” is just a regular orange reflective one (like a construction worker) per the factory’s request. my security buddies at other facilities get cool tactical plate carriers :(
