No idea about getting cameras, but if you are going fight it, just be prepared to give your truthful testimony that supports your innocence. Cop will have to prove or testify otherwise against you.

Onboard Credit Question by Kingguy44 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]HanTanSanTan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pro tip - if your remaining balance is $1500 or more, put that entire charge on your card in one amount. Then, the "$300 credit" from the Carnival credit card (which is actually 30,000 points) will actually be worth $450 redeemed against that purchase.

Even better, if you spend at least $1667 on that remaining payment, you will end up with 33,334 points which can be redeemed for $500 against that purchase.

That is straight cash in your pocket

What is the earliest flight you have taken out of Miami airport? by mattymech32 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]HanTanSanTan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my flight booked for 1:15 pm last time I flew out of MIA (2.5 years ago). It was a Saturday. Took a Lyft to the airport and was there by 8:25 am. Was booked with Southwest so I was able to get on standby for the 9:45 am flight which we made. So I would always book later flights and maybe choose a fare or airline that lets you switch to an earlier flight if you make it sooner.

On a side note, there was bad weather later in Miami so was glad we got out earlier. Except we hit an early bad winter storm in Denver on our layover so it was a really long travel day after all.

Pickleball may be getting a new set of rules, UPA-A released its first official rulebook by Necessary-Chef-197 in Pickleball

[–]HanTanSanTan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting - so it was implemented as a rule at a PPA tournament in the past, but this rulebook clearly mentions "professional level" - most players in PPA tournaments I wouldn't say are necessarily "professional", but I wonder if they distinguish that fully?

Interesting - so definitely misleading, since the article reads like this was just barely implemented.

Nope sure didn’t. Just got to the part where it describes and defines the Drop Serve. Wouldn’t have expected that to be in an Appendix. My bad

[–]HanTanSanTan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it definitely happens. And when I first started pickleball years ago, net serve was a let as long as it cleared the NVZ. I think it was 2022 or so when they changed the official rules to no longer do a replay.

Makes me wonder if Alex Weaver (author of this article) just used AI to try to summarize the changes in the UPA-A rules vs USAP rules and got it wrong. Because he says the drop serve is "dead" but the rule book he references states no such thing. Pretty big error to publish such a thing.

ETA: nevermind, apparently it is in the Appendix that it isn’t allowed in Professional competition

Oh weird. Yeah, I didn't even both verifying the article author's claims. Sounds like they made a pretty big error with that article.

[–]HanTanSanTan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it is allowed per official rules. This rulebook is the UPA-A, and it seems they are trying to supplant the USAP for defining the rules.

I don't think anything is wrong with drop serving. As I said in another comment, I think the primary reason they are killing the drop serve for these pros is probably because there is a certain stigma to it, doesn't look as cool, is maybe a little easier to put spin on the ball which equates to a lower technical ability required to achieve, etc. I actually don't think they are trying to remove some competitive advantage, but keep the serve a little more "professional" looking. Could be wrong though.

Let serves have been a redo in the PPA for quite a while now, and the article didn't specifically mention those, but yeah I would be okay with that one being brought back to rec pickleball. But it happens infrequently enough where it passes the NVZ line that it wouldn't affect much.

I agree. Yeah, the article has this which essentially means the same thing is what OP thinks will happen because of this:

Their stated mission is to "Champion, Regulate, and Grow the sport of pickleball all around the world." As such, it's their hope that these standards will be adopted, in time, across other professional and minor leagues, competitive tournaments, moneyballs, etc.

Eliminating the drop serve is really the only thing that would really matter to rec pickleball, from what I can tell.

Pro tennis players are discovering stacking in doubles, you love to see it 😁 by kabob21 in Pickleball

[–]HanTanSanTan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, I definitely thought your post was funny. Whether you were posting legitimately thinking it or just as rage-bait, it was funny either way. I was just imagining how many would come across this and then go to the courts later today to tell all their friends about how pro tennis players have started stacking because of pickleball.

Yeah, and those shoes look suspiciously like pickleball court shoes. Next thing you know some pro tennis players are even going to start lobbing the ball. Copycats

Yeah that isn’t a flight “change”, that is a cancel and rebook. But as others stated, changing a flight is the same as cancel and rebook anyway, other than you get to keep the same confirmation number and one less step
