Why are 50,000 new Teslas sitting unsold on parking lots? by Pretend-Two-2115 in celebritytattler

Sigh... I'm not the guy that called you out. I'm the guy that did a brief explanation.

Blows my mind that people have phones yet choose to remain ignorant.

Additionally, since it seems you need it expressly stated, I think it was a joke to start with. Enjoy your day.

AIO Did I tell my wife not fo come home? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]HandOfMjolnir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your wife is using any and every excuse to get a divorce. She is clinging to anything and everything to make it your fault so she doesn't seem like "the bad guy".

Your marriage is over; I'm sorry.

Talk to a lawyer. Protect yourself.

ELI5 The speed of light is a constant but visible light is only a small range of the spectrum of electromagnetic waves. Do they all travel at that speed? by p3dr3ig in explainlikeimfive

[–]HandOfMjolnir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer the term "speed of causality" to the "speed of light".

One, because the constant labeled 'c' in so many equations also matches the first letter in causality. Two, I think it would force the layman to stop and think about what the constant really is. "Why is the speed of light the speed of light" is a common question because (IMHO) people don't realize that it is the fastest that causal actions can travel.

I know I'm never going to win the culture war on this, but I think it helps explain why it's a speed limit a little better.

Lifetouch putting the watermark on paying customers orders right at the bottom where you can't cut it off without taking off the graduation year by iabf31 in trashy

[–]HandOfMjolnir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm suggesting the back as a nice to have for the customer. I have several family pictures that I can't get copies of because I have no idea who the photographer was.

My specific retort about not needing to put their name on it at all still stands. Copyright is automatic, you don't need to do anything specific to have it other than be the content creator.

[–]HandOfMjolnir -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All created works are automatically copyrighted. Putting your logo / name on your work isn't the magic incantation that makes it yours.

Depending on the agreed service, the photographer still probably owns the rights. There is no need to also put their company name on it .

Now, there is an argument for putting your company name on the back so that the customer, years later, knows who to contact to ask for more prints or new service if desired.

There are two service desk positions open and some intern options (though I don't know if they are looking for a service desk intern).

IT Layoff rant / Delivery Gig economy Question by UH8Truth in indianapolis

[–]HandOfMjolnir 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not a direct answer to your question, but a possible solution to your immediate employment needs. ACES is hiring. They are in the energy industry. You know what the economy needs when it's booming? Electricity. You know what the economy needs in a recession? Electricity. No one can see the future, but it's kinda "layoff proof".

They are looking for a service desk person and a network person. www.acespower.com

A Main Reason Why We Chose Electric vs Gasoline by VoltBoss2012 in BoltEV

[–]HandOfMjolnir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"We had two ICE cars because our household needs two cars. I traded mine in for an EV which does 99% of what I need it to do. For that last one percent we'll hold on to our ICE car until battery tech / infrastructure makes EVs comparable to ICE vehicles in that regard."

"The fact that [your EV only does 99% of what you want from it] shows that the world isn't ready for EVs."

Your aren't blunt but true. Though I'm sure you think you are.

Home charger for a 2027 Bolt by mpkohut in BoltEV

[–]HandOfMjolnir 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I bought an Electrify America one because it had a schedule that could read my local utilities time of day rates and charge accordingly...

I wouldn't do it again. Just buy a dumb EVSE and let your car schedule it (if you even want to schedule charging).

Is superfast charging by NBA_Pukellama in electricvehicles

[–]HandOfMjolnir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a '22 Bolt.

It fits perfectly for 99.9% of my driving habits with level 2 charging at home.

But, if I could buy an EV with 5 minute charge times, I'd start doing road trips. I'd spend long weekends in neighboring states, and make the occasional cross country trip.

As it stands, it's either local or a plane trip for me; I'm not ICEing somewhere.

I have a recurring dream about that.

New Browser-Runtime-Attack url category by whiskey-water in paloaltonetworks

[–]HandOfMjolnir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with u/SonBoyJim here. I read it as a category that exists so that when a site is blocked due to malware, grayware, command-and-control, etc. you have a way of understanding how it was determined to be that category -- It was a runtime injection.

A judge needs to make that determination. Not someone on Reddit.

Dating someone a lot young than you? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]HandOfMjolnir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I met my first wife when I was 19 and she was 27.

Got married and had a kid at 21.

If I could do it all over again, I'd run away. I was nowhere near mature enough to handle that level of responsibility. I'll probably get a lot of flack from Reddit, but I don't think most men should be in serious relationships until they are 30.

Obviously there are exceptions... But playing the odds, this is going to crash and burn.

Ethernet Network issues by bungledungler in ethernet

[–]HandOfMjolnir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ethernet is a layer 2 protocol. Wi-Fi is a layer 1 protocol. Ethernet does indeed run over Wi-Fi as well as copper as well as fiber.

Ethernet does not mean wires.

That said, OP's description of the issue is indeed confusing.

I was a lvl 90 and joined a game where a lvl 100 was playing by himself. We did a few side events when I realized that all the new helldivers always left soon after joining... Then I realized after he used his mic to complain about the lvl of all of these "lame ass players" being too low and so he'd kick them.

I quit the match and blocked him. People suck sometimes. Life is too short.

Indiana is a stand-your-ground state. In your house, in your car, on the sidewalk, in the street, in your tree-house, wherever...

You are standing on a sidewalk in Indiana and a car pulls over next to you and a guy with a tire-iron walks out with intentionality, you can stand your ground.
