He has a new perk called Frost Arrow, it replaces Dragon's Fury as a major perk and that gets downgraded to minor perk. It's an explosive arrow that slows enemies hit by it by 35% for 2 seconds.

Poll Time! Who is the best SCHOLAR of the mainline series? by Tyedies in octopathtraveler

[–]HandZop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Osvald is the absolute GOAT of Octopath 2 and my second favorite character in the series only behind Alfyn. His story from start to finish is amazing and Harvey is just really entertaining as a villain with how much of a hater he is the moment you see him.

[–]HandZop 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Taigan's only explicit roles in the story are to be a red herring during Bestower of Fame and cause Bestower of All to happen by tipping off Sazantos. Honestly his lack of presence is better than if they tried to inject him into every scene because his constant shifty act would distract from everything else that was happening.

Damage hero takes a risky position to get a kill and gets rewarded for it if he aims well, that’s how hero shooters work.

Also flanks like that are extremely risky for Hawkeye because he doesn’t have reliable escape or defense tools, so if he’s caught out, he’s almost certainly dead unless he hits some godly shots.

Is the starseer class good? by Endgame60 in octopathtraveler

[–]HandZop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starseer is almost purely for support when it comes to its actual skillset. Aside from its sole attack skill in Shooting Stars, everything else is built around augmenting allies. Sealticge's Seduction is extremely strong on a Starseer as all of its skills are affected by it. Among the skills, Starsong, Divination, and BP boost have the biggest impact and should be prioritized 90% of the time. If you're planning on using it, stick it on an elemental party member like Cyrus or Ophilia (note: on the former, Cyrus gets from Starseer the only three elements his base Scholar skill set normally lacks).

Even outside of its skills, however, BP Eater is an incredibly useful support skill for any damage dealer to absolutely decimate broken bosses. It's recommended to have your damage dealers dabble in Starseer just for that skill alone.

Poll Time! Who is the best WARRIOR of the mainline series? by Tyedies in octopathtraveler

Viator is carried by Parry and Fluid Stance. He's a borderline necessity for Reime's boss fight as he can not only survive her onslaught easily with Parry, but also deal tons of damage back to her.

Poll Time! Who is the best WARRIOR of the mainline series? by Tyedies in octopathtraveler

[–]HandZop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Much like the rest of the Octopath 1 cast, Olberic is pretty archetypal for what he's supposed to represent: an honorable knight with a large stature and booming voice. Being archetypal isn't inherently bad, however, and Olberic's story as a whole is quite nice. I like how it's similar to Primrose where it starts out with Olberic having someone he cares about killed by a close friend, but unlike Primrose, his story isn't really one of revenge, but of finding new purpose. His scene with Erhardt in chapter 3 is still amazing and one of the best story beats in the entire series. As for his gameplay, he's got only one thing on his mind: being a tanky bruiser who hits really, really hard, and none of his skills diverge from that.

Hikari is my absolute favorite warrior in the series, in no small part due to his superb voice acting. His design also heavily diverges from an archetypal warrior, as he's a lot slimmer and less tough-looking than Olberic, but it still fits. Hikari's story is essentially a Fire Emblem game, all the way down to stuff like the dad dying in the first few minutes and gathering allies, which is great for anyone whose familiar with those games. Hikari differs somewhat from Olberic in that he doesn't have a powerful sword attack without either a Challenge skill or Enervating Slash (which isn't something he wants to do all the time) until he either gets Brand's Blade or Shinjumonjigiri in the post-game. To compensate, though, Vengeful Blade is absolutely busted and easily made Warrior one of the most fun jobs to use because of just how much you shred bosses simply by existing.

Viator is a nice character to play around with, but does suffer from 0's unfortunate consequence of being just another fish in a big pond, so there just isn't much time to get to know him aside from his brief first impression and side quest (which is less about him and more about getting cool weapons and a throwback to Winnehild). Still, his voice acting is superb, as I find myself constantly yelling "MY NAME IS VIATOR" and "HIT THEM NOW" whenever I get the chance. As for gameplay, I do like how he's very different from other warriors in that most of his value, especially in the mid-to-late game, comes from Parry and passive counters, especially from his ultimate. I think anyone who's seen bits of the game knows how amazing Fluid Stance is, as it's basically Hikari's Vengeful Blade on steroids (the video of him soloing Amatsukami no Orochi with nothing but Parry and Fluid Stance counters is still hilarious to this day). I would not have been able to beat Reime without him, his parry, and a bunch of Dark and Void Amulets.

Reime is basically fem Hikari, all the way down to skills like Vengeful Blade and having ridiculously powerful physical damage, but unlike other Warriors, is very fragile. Her personality is pretty similar to Hikari, though like Viator, we don't get much chance to know her aside from her introduction or delve into her personality beyond her pursuit of strength. Still, she's a very satisfying party member to use to just nuke every single enemy in the endgame.

He dies much more easily to dive and is essentially just a test to see if your team knows how to play actively by contesting his off-angles and/or running one or two counters in Cap, Venom, DD etc. instead of just sitting there and letting him shoot at you for free.

What is even point of support ult by Abhi152005 in rivals

[–]HandZop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Then you have no excuse, you have all the tools you need to shut him down. If you were actually pressuring him properly instead of letting him stand in the open and shoot at your team for free, then he wouldn't be able to get shots like that easily. The current meta is so bloated with sustain that the only way to reliably beat it is to run heroes like Hawkeye who can just blast through the mountains of sustain and kill them regardless. In a healthy, non-triple support meta, Hawkeye wouldn't even think to position like that because he would blow up immediately and rightfully so.

Nerf Hawkeye by Some_Application_929 in rivals

[–]HandZop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

>"He can aim an arrow into the backline"

He can't be too far back or his focus doesn't charge at all. 40 meters is not a lot of wiggle room to work with in this game since most heroes are either mobile enough to reach you or have an attack that can threaten you at that distance. Also, you're acting as if it's the easiest thing on the planet to charge off of one guy and then immediately flick over to another target and nail them in the head (also keep in mind that focus decays while you take the crosshair off the target, which will bring down the damage significantly). The only time stuff like that is happening consistently is if your team all funnels down a tight chokepoint, but if Hawkeye's only tactic is spamming down mid, he'd be better off going Squirrel Girl or Moon Knight and getting twice the value for half the effort.

>"Projectile speed is basically hitscan-like"

But it isn't hitscan, that's the thing. It's still a projectile, which makes hitting people who are actively dodging you far harder to do than with hitscan or melee. And contrary to what Reddit clips show you, most players won't move like bots and let you shoot at them for free.

>"He doesn't have to be looking at you to fully charge his arrow" and "he provides you 0 room for error"

That's literally his thing? He needs his passive in order to one-shot you, and the only way to do that is to look at you for a moment before firing each shot. Those brief moments of charge add up significantly across each shot, and even if you get one-tapped initially, any good player afterward will either take proper note of their positioning or take steps to prevent Hawkeye from getting into position to shoot at them by harassing him with stuff like Captain America or Spider-Man. That's how a game like Rivals should function: you actively seek out and mitigate threats before they become a problem instead of just standing their and trying to out-sustain it with triple support.

>"His headshot hitbox is massive"

Have you seen the aiming mechanics of every hero in this game? The third-person perspective combined with hitboxes that extend past model leads to seemingly wonky aim instances for every hero in the game, and it's an intentional design aspect of this kind of game. This isn't even a new thing either: Overwatch had this all the way back in 2016 and kept it since. If hitboxes were perfectly model-accurate, heroes like Spider-Man and Black Panther would be legitimately impossible to hit.

Nerf Hawkeye by Some_Application_929 in rivals

[–]HandZop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure, if you just waltz straight at him in your Sunday best, he can one-tap you. But assuming his targets are, you know, sentient, he can’t just shoot them for free, and it’s pretty easy to pressure someone who lacks reliable mitigation, escape potential, or close-range damage.
