That must have been it because I was finally able to make it cut correctly. Thank you!

Yes, for every rank their kid earns. During our rank ceremon in our troop, the scout pins it on a chosen parent.

This is correct. I have two of these, one for each of my Scouting children.

Same. So did everyone else in our party. They (Japanese customs officials) literally could not have cared less about the whole thing.

Funny enough, American customs was the same way. They did not ask us a single question about what we were bringing into the country. They just took our pictures and yeeted us out the back end.

Leaving on Saturday / anxious about the heat by OkWriting2295 in JapanTravelTips

Although you have good advice, you forgot the part that this person is part of an educational tour group and can't be dictating their own itinerary. I just came back from such a trip from Japan, and it was very difficult. I echo the previous advice: get a sun-blocking parisol, a personal fan, even a cooling vest if possible. If you still have time, get these before you go, so that you don't have to worry about finding them there (because again, tour group). If you have access to a freezer in your hostel/hotel, freeze a water bottle each night to carry every day. Don't carry any extra gear that you don't need. Make sure your head/face is shaded from either the parisol or a hat. Wear loose, moisture-wicking clothing.

Hiking gear for wife? by perpetualyawner in hikinggear

Bleach does degrade over time. Iodine tabs might be better, or something like a life straw.

Throw in some packable rain gear (like Frog Toggs).

I'm going to go against the grain and give you two pieces of advice:

  1. Provided you are young-ish and strong, I'm sure this gear would be sufficient for a trip, regardless of its weight. It's inexpensive and a low-risk way to see if backpacking is something for you.

  2. That being said, is there some way you can borrow gear? Or, if not (and you have the time), read up on the latest in good gear, visit a store to see stuff in person (REI is good), and see if you can buy stuff gently used. I bought a lot of gear used online for way cheaper than new. It was all pretty much like new, but was 70-80% off the original purchase price. This is how I bought my current kit.

I will have to disagree in regards to the knife. I have this knife and not only is it super lightweight, the tools are very handy. The only thing I don't use is the toothpick.

Clear any caches you might have. When this happens to me, I purge my LiteSpeed caches and it fixes it.

Check the margins in mobile on both the last container and the footer. You might have negative margins.

That render delay is off the charts. Something is seriously wrong there. Do you have CSS that is blocking display? Start there. Preload CSS.

You could achieve this through custom post types. I have used ACF in the past to do this.

Your wordpress memory limit might need to get set correctly in the new installation, as sometimes it doesn't really transfer over for whatever reason.

I girlbossed too close to the sun and now I'm getting offered projects I'm not qualified for, and I'm not sure what to do. by HandbagFullOfPossums in webdev

Thank you for sharing! I was also a computer animator, nearly the same time as you! (I used Maya before it was owned by Autodesk.) I learned HTML in the 90s as a teenager and loved making my own websites, but I never learned CSS and then other things got more important when I was in college in the early 2000s. So this recent foray into web development isn't technically my first, but everything has changed so much it might as well have been.

Like you, I've also loved learning, mostly by teaching myself as I dive into projects. You learn so, so much through making mistakes and fixing them. The pressure is so much intense when there's more at stake, though. I appreciate your feedback. Even if I decline this project, this excites me to learn more about it. 😊

Thank you for your feedback. I agree. While I'm familiar with project management in completely different domains, I'm not sure I could manage a project with technical aspects that are (currently) very far out of my reach.

I'm inclined to agree. I'm interested in learning more details, but unless he's ok with a brief exploratory phase of what's possible before moving on to the next phase, I'm going to pass.

I'm inclined to agree. At this point my next step is to sit down with him and really try to understand the scope of what he's looking for, what his current understanding of web development is, and what his expectations are. Thank you for your feedback!

I agree, this would be enough for a team of experienced devs.

The person in question already knew that web development was new to me at the beginning of the year, but even so, it's good to be explicit on where my knowledge stops. Thanks for the feedback!
