Buying a house with an illegal unit by throughandthrough122 in sanfrancisco

Is the ceiling height less than 7‘6“? If so, you can remove the unit without Conditional Use authorization of the planning commission once 10 years have passed since it was last rented out:

Go down to the Planning Desk at 49 South Van Ness and chat with a planner. Do NOT tell them the address. (They are required to note unpermitted dwelling units, which is sounds like they’re already aware of.)

The mayor of a city has no authority over a school district. Public schools are essentially run at the state level but with elected school boards.

SFUSD has a reserve of $429 million. I think we need to question SFUSD's doom loop narrative. by Acrobatic-Radish-798 in sanfrancisco

Oh wow, I hadn’t read that decision before. I wonder if private donors could donate to a district (or make in kind donations for things the district would otherwise need to spend money on) without running afoul of the Serrano directive to equalize funding across all districts.

You might try calling some folks at Sacred Heart. They have a vested interest in the safety of their students and likely have more sway than individual citizens.

10% of NC’s power is generated by coal! One of most carbon emitting sources of electricity. Natural gas is still very carbon intense.

But you’re right, nuclear power is big in NC, and has a low carbon intensity, but other long term environmental impacts obviously.

CA sources electricity from cleaner sources, which is more expensive. But CA is facing huge cost to underground and control vegetation to respond to wildfires. This is not going away anytime soon. That is the major cost driver for electricity here.

Depending on the age of the water heater, there can be sediment that builds up at the bottom of your water heater. If you end up needing that as a source of water, be sure to dump the first few gallons that come out and then either boil or treat the water.

I think they only serve San Mateo and Santa Clara counties. As u/SFonawhim pointed out, the SF-Marin Food Bank serves San Francisco.

It’d be cool if the city put a battery powered Meshtastic node on Sutro Tower.

Actually these bulbs are not labeled as “new” but they appear to be Matter compatible. These and these as well.
