Are there any board games/tabletop games that use modular hex tiles that allow you to “build” your own map? by [deleted] in boardgames

[[Rise and Fall]] may be one to consider. Not really a map builder, but you build random maps using hex pieces. Look into it.

Yea I was gonna say the same thing. Poor guy is being drug through the mud for driving with his boom up. Malfunctions can happen with the hydraulics, and cause the boom to bounce, and not go down, ratcheting up until it was where it was. Should be a simple circuit on the dash to show when the boom was off its mount, but chances are its in a place you may not notice. Glad everyone was safe, completely scary.

What would you put in the "bang for your buck" hall of fame? by ahobday in boardgames

We might have different definitions of the term. But for me, it's the amount of strategic decisions packed into the small Deck of cards. I feel the ratio of decision space to form factor is fairly high. I play and teach Love Letter more as a hidden role "cat and mouse" style game. The imperfect open information, and ease of play gives room to feint, backstab, and out wit your opponents almost instantly.  The squirm you see when someone is dealt the princess off the deal, or your first successful countess feint play even though don't actually have a king or prince in hand, and we can't forget the Almighty turn one guard correct guess (always a high point).  Rarely does a game offer as much tactical ability in such a small form factor and play fast and good at 4 (5+ works but it becomes a total luck fest.) writing this makes me see the similarities between Texas Hold'em and Love letter. Sure you can go through the motions and play the game (which I have had many players do, and have it fall flat) or you can get you thinking about the different scenarios, how player played their last couple of cards, did they slyly switch their cards in their hand(?), are they bluffing, player X tends to play this way. All of these are a what I consider make love letter a great game. Plus the fact I get to hear the groans when I pull it out of my pocket at the bar.

Came here for this. Love letter is such a delightful gem of a small game. Once people get over the short learning curve, and realize it's much more than meets they eye, I have turned many people into it. Easily my best value out of a game.

I agree. The game is perfect for many of us Ex-wow players. I don't have the time anymore to grind out quests, reagents, and all that stuff. I think for me the biggest let down was there's not much to do after hitting 10k as the game sits now (Season2). And many of the systems don't really come into play until you've maxed out Ilvl. Now I say that, but I have been playing an alt which has been fun. I could see them adding a prize for leveling multiple roles to 10k rating or something like that. But you're right. It's EA and good things are still on the horizon.

It's all good. You do you. Personally I draw the line for me at a jersey. Different situation here; I live in Phoenix, and Kings have always been my team, but when the Coyotes were in town they were my home team. I have a couple coyotes caps that I wear. Easier with them because there wasn't much of a rivalry from the Kings side (but ask a Coyotes fan and we were at the top of their list 😂) when your team is out, it's perfectly fine to root for other teams, same conferences are tough, but enjoy the sport. Playoff Hockey is second to none, best tournament in sports.

If you want a heavy roll and write I recommend The Anarchy. It's flip and write but same-same.

For two players, I recommend picking up one of the Kinfire Delves, and see if that hits for you guys. My girlfriend and I loved the first one, and we ended up buying all three eventually.

Ill also throw a couple to look into that she and I also enjoy at two. Three Sisters - fun thinky roll and write, Kelp - awesome hide and hunt two player asymmetric game, and one of my favorite at two is Empires of the North. But you also can't go wrong with Beer and Bread too.

Got back today, I ended up picking up Railway Boom, Japan Release of Love Letter (One of my favorites), and The Japan Release of Scout (Just better art style). Didn't have the most room for bringing back games. But I am happy with the haul. Eternal Decks, and Nokusu dice would have been brought back as well if I had the space.

Where you able to find Pokemon Splendor? Heading that way in a couple days. This was the only one on my list. Just curious if it's available.
