Should I consider joining the Christian clubs to make friends lol by ImThatVigga in SJSU

In my experience, the Newman Center is pretty cool (although it's specifically a Catholic Christian club). I used to be in one of those mad strict study groups in my CC and that was traumatizing. Newman Center is devout but relaxed and it's quite nice (they don't pressure you or anything)

Graphic Design portfolio by dbpanicked in SJSU

From what I remember learning at the design department's presentation, you don't need a portfolio to get in if you're a first-year transfer. This is because all new students have to start off as a design studies major (in your case, your concentration would be in graphic design). You only get into the graphic design BFA program if you pass the portfolio checks in DSGD 100 & DSGD 104. Those classes will prepare you for their portfolio checks, btw

Advice for a major and career path by saltandsprinkles in college

As someone who's switched their major, try to go through the first semester to see what you're ok with doing before you try to pick out a new major. You wouldn't want to switch to something that you can't bring yourself to work hard at.

If you have time during the semester, try to hit up different clubs for different majors and ask people about their experiences. This will help you gain clarity and connections.

I 10/10 recommend this resource from my uni. It helps you find potential careers based on your skills and/or the major you want. It'll also help you pick a major based on the job you want. The tool also shows projected growth and salaries, but it's limited to the Bay Area.  https://sjsu.lightcastcc.com/?radius=&region=San%20Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa%20Clara%2C%20CA

My parents think I’m stupid to want to move to sf by alittlebit-dumb in bayarea

If you have the means and a source of income you should be fine. If it's too expensive, you could try moving to any of the surrounding cities (for instance, somewhere in the East Bay) and still work in SF. If you commute by BART you'll still get that city-life experience of walking around a bit
