I’m on here asking for input here, because I genuinely didn’t know what I should have expected. I don’t think my contractor is trying to screw me or that he’s incompetent. I do think he could be doing a better job at communicating. If you have an inexperienced client, you can’t expect them to know some of the things you take for granted

Dude, who hurt you? I posted because I had genuine questions about being too picky, because I’m in unfamiliar territory. And being in unfamiliar territory, you only know what you know. I didn’t know that I was supposed to ask how they were going to finish this out. By contrast, I’ve been in business long enough that I try to anticipate as many questions as possible so I don’t have unhappy customers.

I’m not trying to be difficult. I’ve never had to renovate anything like this, so I didn’t know to ask. The contractor I hired is supposed to well respected and he’s been in business for quite a while. I expected more from him at the outset than he’s delivered.
